Great Story

Like the way it is family oriented. The stories of the caves is entertaining. The narrator is very good and I love the way voices change.

Childish, bossy characters who distract from a potentially interesting story

I want to like this story but I’ve struggled to get thru it. Both Julia and Raf are controlling bossy people who can’t seem to see how annoying they are. Julia is so childish and selfish it’s amazing. For characters who are supposed to be Christians, I see little evidence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. How can anyone be so obsessed with something that it blinds them to everything else, including possible life and death danger? I don’t know if the characters are made more annoying because of the narrator or if the story itself is that way. As expected, all 3 brothers are reunited in the end. I hope the characters mature as the series continues, but I don’t know if I can handle listening to the rest of the books in this storyline. “He needed to take care of her… How was he to control her…” really? I want to like this, but it’s just so so. Julia only seems to become a reasonable and tolerable character in the last 30 minutes or so of the book. I guess I should’ve known by the book’s title it would have something to do with controlling and over bearing characters. I do appreciate the author pointing out that, yes, even in the lowest darkest ends of the earth, God is also there. Praise God, he is always with us. Why it took the entire book for the characters to realize this great comfort, I don’t know. This book might be better suited for teenagers than more seasoned adults.

Good book

Another good book by Mary Connealy. I really enjoyed this book, but the narrator turned me off a little bit. Don't let that stop you though, if you're on the fence. The plot was good, but I really expected a more light hearted plot as in her other books. The ending was happy, but the spookiness of the cavern turned me off a bit as well. I enjoyed the main characters, but Rafe was a bit too bossy and Julia a bit too obsessed with fossils and the cavern. Wished there was more romance in the story.
