Many of us stumbled into Jesus and discovered the one we'd been searching for all our lives, whether we knew it or not. He told us everything was going to be alright. He was a best friend who whispered that he loved us to the exact extent his father loved him. He saw everything we did yet refused to condemn us ever. He was an incredibly powerful and supernatural God who could actually change the outcome of our horror into beauty.

Then enter shame, time, failure, disappointment, and bad teaching. We learned to see him as disgusted that we haven't shaped up by now. We now have a hard time reading the words of Jesus without feeling he's telling us we're not enough and we should be better, after all he's done for us. And we pull back, not as easily daring to trust him with us, less willing to trust his plans, life and destiny for us.

What if that voice didn't exist for us? What if we could read his voice, hear his voice, without an artificial, religious filter? And what if we discovered he has been caring about us, speaking to us, wooing us, entering into our daily events, from the very start, long before we took even a hint of interest in him?

On My Worst Day allows us to listen to one person's journey to rediscovering that voice of Jesus. We are allowed to imagine what Jesus might be saying to us in our best and worst, our horrid disasters and funniest moments. We will cry, laugh, and find ourselves in every story. And we will walk away changed; drenched with hope, and the best friend we found at the start.

Best Audible Book I’ve Heard

This book was mentioned by my pastor in a sermon the other day. So I got it and have listen to it almost straight through every day. John Lynch will be coming to our church this coming weekend. This is probably the best audible book that I have ever listen to. He reads this himself and you can hear every emotion that he writes this book in. I will listen to this book multiple times because it has touched me so deeply. Christ in you is the only one who can live the Christian life. That’s what this is all about, John’s journey. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It will cause you to laugh, it will cause you to cry, it’s where the rubber meets the road in life.

Absolutely Beautiful

What did you love best about On My Worst Day?

The story of a man on a journey of finding out who God really is, and who he really is in Christ. I don't believe many enter down this road, so it's so beautiful to get to witness it. John brings us into the story with him and we get to mature a little right beside him. I want to read it again to absorb it a little more. And I want to send it to every Christian I know. And even to all my friends who have rejected Christ because the ugly, bad religion they've seen. I want to yell, "This is the Christ I know". "This is the Jesus who has freed me!" John describes Him so well.

What does John Lynch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read the book as well. And it is wonderful. However, I enjoy audio books a lot. I am able to listen while cooking, cleaning and driving! In this book though, it was magical to hear John's voice as he tells the story. He has so many funny accents that come through, only through hearing him tell it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and cried many times throughout the book. I laughed out loud at the story of Little Joe. That was a good one for sure! As he spoke about Les Miserable and the grace offered by the priest, it conveyed a clear picture of God. I cried deeply as he shared this truth.

This book is a must read/listen!

Astoundingly effective at making me feel too many emotions all simultaneously.

I love this book!

The fact that it is read by the author makes it even more incredible. Another narrator could not have expressed the same emotion and draw me into the story as John did.

I found myself hopeful and angry and happy and sad, encouraged and discouraged all at the same time.

All of the sadness, anger, frustration and discouragement only comes because of my lack of belief that I am who God says that I am.I hope that this book encourages me and multitudes to a deeper walk, deeper faith-a more playful me!

Wow. Amazingly real and powerfully applicable!

I love the style and format, but especially loved the chronological development of a human being in Christ.
