Grainger Just Doesn't Stop His Greatness!

Do Not Start This Book First! Nope, treat yourself to "An Accidental Death", the first in the DC series first. But beware... you will then become addicted to Grainger and find yourself binging. The DC Series and King's Lake Investigations are all part of a brilliantly written and narrated saga composed of sort of stand alone novels.

But it is a continuing saga... no not cliff hangers, yet the ensemble is so well imagined by both Grainger and Jackson that each depends on the last.

I can't say more than the 15 stars up there say. Well, yeah I can. As I write this Book 3 in this saga hasn't appeared and like an addict, I'm beginning to shake from withdrawal awaiting the next Kings Lake Investigation.

Good twisty crime story with nice characters. Looking forward to more in this series. What else can I say?

Another great book in the successor series

The author still has a lot to say he uses his characters for a great commentary on the human condition and the fallability of all humans. The plot lines are great and the story has some great potential with lots of really good reactor and characters and the further development of some younger characters as well as aging gracefully in some other characters

Written and read with feeling and brightness.

Mystery, intrigue, comedy, romance, deep thoughts worth noting; not usual for a police procedural. Brilliantly done, as usual.

Excellent performance of another excellent book by this author. Well drawn characters. Highly recommended read.

Interesting and Poignant Story - Believable

I appreciate how Peter Granger paints a scene with words. As I listen I feel as if I am in the story with people I like (except for the villains) and in a setting that has become more and more familiar with each book. When a character looks down an alley I too can look for clues -and you can’t ask much more from an afternoon’s read than this. The plot twists are subtle and powerful. I close the book with a contented sigh and look for the next volume in the series with the anticipation.

Loved It!!!

I enjoyed every book in series one. I mourned the loss of DC and his crew. I was thrilled to learn the new series was really the next chapter, including traces of DC now and then. Gildart Jackson is fabulous. He gives each new character a unique voice. Perhaps the negative reviews are a result of the this book setting the scene of a new cast of characters. I enjoyed learning about the new officers, really looking forward to Book 3.

Over way too quickly!!

I absolutely love the King's Lake Central crew. Since we were first introduced to Smith back in beginning, I have continued to love them all more and more. This new book is no exception. Grainger has a knack for "showing" you the scene and letting it unfold as things move on. I never want these stories to end...yet I can't stop listening. So essentially, it is a bittersweet affair.
These stories aren't those that you are shown the suspects and work it out. You get to follow them as they go, examine clues and watch Waters inevitably fall for the pretty girl who is just peripheral enough to be ok for dating.
Just lovely. If you haven't read the DC Smith series I envy you - you get to experience it all from the beginning. Hopefully more in the series are on their way. I will read them all!!!

LOVE this series! Writing is excellent; I can “see” the characters. Plot very intriguing.
