"Happy birthday, Raven. Welcome to Noir Reformatory."
Not what every girl wants to hear on her 18th birthday, but I accepted my fate long ago. I was born with black wings, earning me a permanent jail sentence from day one.
A noir angel for life.
That's fine.
I'll own this prison just like I did back home.
Even if it's ruled by two hot kings.
This reformatory isn't all-girls; it's co-ed. Which means I'm outnumbered ten-to-one by brutes with more brawn than brain. Not a problem. I thrive on aggression, and this place is riddled with it. A nightmare wrapped up in an ebony cloak.
Well, bring it on, boys.
Just try and claim me.
Note: This MMF romance novel is part of the Paranormal Prison collection and the start of a brand-new MMF series by USA Today best-selling author Lexi C. Foss and USA Today best-selling author J.R. Thorn writing as Jennifer Thorn.

Another amazing start of a Series!

The narrators did a pretty good job with this story but it was a bit hard to get use to the heavy English accents. I usually don’t have an issue with those types of things but I definitely did initially. I did however get more comfortable as the story went on.
Overall I feel this was an interesting and steamy story and found that my best bet was to listen when after the kids go to bed. 🔥🔥🔥I look forward to the next book. Bring it on!!
🔥🔥Steamy🔥🔥

Love the story but…

This was extremely addictive, much like the entries catalogs of both authors and as a result, I may or may not have blown off my job and life for a few hours to read it in one sitting. I absolutely cannot wait to read on in this series as there are still some loose ends that seem to promise all sorts of drama, corruption and action. (Not that there was any shortage of these things in this installment.)
I absolutely love Raven and hope to see more of her down the line.
Epic world-building.
Strongly recommend, no complaints, no errors noticed, etc. so …
5 stars.

Note:
I listened to the audiobook; a 4-star performance. Both narrators were great.
DYING for more in this series ...

Narration type: Duet Narration
The heroine: Raven - she was an angel born with black wings instead of white, so she grew up in Juvie. When she turned eighteen, she is shipped off to Noir Reformatory. She finds out that she is the first female in centuries to be sent there. The Nora was the ruling class, they had white wings. She had to fight for her life as soon as she arrived. She mistakenly tried to kill one of the other Noir angels that had been trying to protect her.
The Heroes: Sorin and Zian - Noir angels that were also moved to Noir Reformatory. They have been together in another prison for over a hundred years along with their friend Novak; Sorin and Zian have been cell mates and lovers. They were close to six decades old before their fall, when their wings turned black, and they were put into prison. Sorin tried to protect Raven in the arena, but she in turn stabbed him.
The story: Sorin and Zian are moved into cell with Raven after the culling in the arena. They try to figure out what is going on, where their friend Novak was taken and why Raven was put in with them. They also didn’t know what to think about the strange feelings they had for her. They hadn’t had a woman in over a hundred years since it took committing significant sins to get their black wings, and they can’t imagine what Raven could have done to earn hers.
Noir Reformitory is a prison for the worst of the Noir, and it is the most dangerous one. From the night the main characters arrived and had to fight in the arena, where a third of the new arrivals were killed, to the weekly “training” exercises where much of the population was culled. They had things like duels to the death inside electrified fences to even more dangerous exercises where fireballs are thrown at them and the ground is covered in moving blades that would grind them to bits. There was also a sadistic fae doctor who liked to experiment on Noir via all kinds of torture, to monsters (night terrors) that appeared in their cells nightly to try and eat them.
This was a pretty good prequel to the series, and at the end it introduces some of the main characters that will be in the next books, though this one had different main characters. I quite liked that this was its’ own standalone in the series. This book let us get to know Noir reformatory and what happens there, though it never really explains why so many Noir are sent there and why so many are culled each week.
This audiobook was narrated in dual points of view via duet narration. It was narrated by Cassandra Myles and Gregory Salinas. Cassandra Myles has a cockney accent and sounds age appropriate for Raven. Gregory Salinas has a nice deep voice and is great at using different voices and accents for different characters, so he is a good narrator for this since he narrates both the Sorin and the Zian characters.
Good introduction to the series!
