The nights are loaded with troubles. I guess the days are, too…

There's so much danger out there. Coming for me, coming for the world. Demons and darkness and craziness everywhere. Plus, the mysteries keep on piling up. So many of them!

Not good for my already overloaded mind.

Ah, well. It'll get sorted. It's all about the determination, right? And I've got heaps of it.

I'm still trying to navigate my new and powerful Arcana magic, as well as my attraction to Tae—hot billionaire vampire and demon hunter. My employer. My protector. The source of all my fantasies.

Things are really heating up between us…

If only everything wasn't so complicated...

Night Troubles is the second book in an urban fantasy romance series packed with magic, demons, action, and steamy moments. Step into the world of a warlock who always tries to see the sunny side of life, and the sexy vampire who makes his knees go weak. This book is not a standalone and is best enjoyed after listening to book one, Night Tricks.

great story, world building, characters, and romance, can’t wait until the next books are recorded and released!

so good!

There’s an interesting story somewhere in here, but the execution is driving me batty. The parts of the world I’m dying to hear about are mentioned in one-off sentences, ignored in favor of Clay’s squee over getting some luvin from his billionaire stud muffin.

I have so many questions. Magic is being manufactured and called synth, and also falling to the ground like snow, but maybe magic is different from arcana, but I’m not really sure because the only explanations are reserved for the lust-story. There are warlock and witches and humans and demons, but I’m not sure whether all warlocks are human or whether sex between the two makes a half-warlock, half-human. Are all men warlocks, and are all men therefore second class citizen? Apparently not, because there’s a magical police agency with a male officer with some level of power. And do humans know about fairies, vampires, and demons, or just about witches and warlocks?

And why doesn’t Clay act like any sane person would act like? Clay spends weeks and months killing demons just because Tae says all demons are bad, but never stops to think that his part-demon self means he could be killing good demons? Book 2 gives slightly more attention to the urban fantasy side, yet still has important stuff happening off screen, like the dozens of demons Clay kills; there’s only two killings that occur on screen and I can’t help thinking they paint Tae and Clay as the bad guys, blinded by vengeance (Tae) or lustful adoration (Clay).

Then there’s the romance. Really?! The city is being demolished. Hundreds are dying. The Button Man is on the loose. And there’s Clay, playing house and getting O’s and Kylie Minogue gifts. And when Tae suddenly walks him into a sex club, straps him down, and goes medieval in their first full on dickening, Clay’s all just okey-dokey fine with it?

It’s all very what-the-what, constantly having me think who? What? How? Who talks like that? Who acts like that?! And yet, there’s enough of a cool story concept that I find myself moving on as soon as the expected cliffhanger drops.

Glosses over the important parts

Wanted to like it, but things that i didnt like in the first were worse in the second.
Dont know who kylie whatsit is, and now will never ever deliberately find out. Tired of hearing the name over and over.
Tae is a manipulative user who is blatantly grooming Clay.
Clay who is supposedly street smart, yet just excepts Taes c&@p. I understand him not wanting to give up a better life, but come on. He could have "bought" his better life with his magic. He didnt have to let himself be manipulated and emotionally abused, and after the revelation of the feeding club, a future victim of physical abuse.
Whole thing just was annoying and dragged on way to long.
Ive enjoyed other books by this author, but I doubt ill be finishing this series, unless I get really, really bored.

Tried to like it.
