New Beginnings

Elaine's life has been incredible so far, but it's going to be hard topping her current situation outside of hitting the level cap. The story continues to be excellent and I am incredibly happy to see divine intervention in her relationships.

Feels like a new game

Imagine having a max out character in insert (video game name here), and then you hear news of (insert video game name here) 2 comes out. You buy the game but somehow lose all the power you had in the previous game. Thats how this book feels. Don’t misunderstand the book is still good and has some play on the previous books and I am looking forward to more to come.

Great listen!

Loved it, just wished they skipped over the character building. It was like 15 chapters of them just developing her. Hopefully the next book is fast pace and gets with knight.

The Inevitable School Arc is Upon Us

It is with a heavy heart that I bring you the sad news of a school arc. Yes, that most insidious of manga/anime/light novel culture has reared its ugly head once again. OK, to be serious and honest, it isn't all that bad. I was actually fine with it. There isn't much of the teen social drama you normally get with this type of arc, so that is a blessing. Essentially, this book is an info dump by the author to get us used to the new world Elaine is in without spending several books on it. It is also a chance for Elaine to improve herself, both mentally and physically. There are surely some aspects to the book that one or another person might not like, but on the whole I think it is worth a listen. I'm looking forward to the next book where the story truly starts to move again.

Series 2

A decent restart of the adventure with a few points for future arcs and a 5 year training montage

Love the story!!

The author has done a great job in developing both the world and characters in the world. I truly enjoy this story and can’t wait for the next audiobook (already finished reading the next book, it’s great also!!).
The narrator does a wonderful job in bring the characters to life and keeping the voices constant, keep up the great job!

Good intro to a new time

Andrea’s narration was once again top notch! Honestly, I was pretty sad that this story jumped forward in time because I had really grown to love the characters. This was a really good way to freshen things up, though, so I get why it was done. This story focuses on introducing us to a new era, as well as Elaine and co’s start at the school. I wish we could’ve heard more about how the rest of the crew who came through the fairy ring were doing, but they weren’t able to attend the school (naturally). Looking forward to hearing more of their story, in a later book hopefully. I solidly enjoyed this book! It was really interesting to learn about the biomancy body modifications and reasons at the end, though the portion about Elaine researching for her own mods got a little too long for me. Still, it was cool to see all the thought that went into it. Overall, another fantastic installment!

Spoiler alert

I like the book. However, it’s unfortunate that there had to be a time skip. Yep, it was foreshadowed for a couple of books thru Iona’s epilogues. The school arch was alright, but I still miss when she was in Remus. Everything she did and every single side quest and event simply didn’t matter.

Great fun

Different strokes. I saw a some complaints about the last stretch of the book that I don’t share. It was an enthusiastic speculation and fiction about what one would do if it were possible.

This was unnecessary.

The transgender topic appearing was a major downgrade and while the worlds power system provides an arguably poor solution to this issue. Granted it is similar to the poor irl solution people seek to this mental disorder. Why no magic cure all to the disorder? Why bring this topic into the story?
