People read for inspiration

People read for inspiration. That is what comes to mind after hearing this book. I heard another book from this author and fell in love with the story and the characters. This book was horrible from the first words. The main character didn't make you care about her. She just pissed you off. Tough up bringing yes but, we humans learn fast. This character was not only sad by lacked any sense. Most root for the under dog some, like the HEA. This was a book about a young woman who played dumb and was. The abuse well it happens. This book just put a sour taste in my mouth. The author can write but I hope part 2 is better.

I didn’t see it coming!😲

Noor just can’t catch a break. She has been through so much and now I can’t see why she’s the way she is. I was on an emotional roller coaster!!! 💆🏾‍♀️

Emotional Rollercoaster

This book is very engaging taking you on an emotional roller coaster. The author is very detailed and takes you on the journey of the characters. I loved the bikj can't wait to listen to part 2.

Let’s hear it for the girl!!!!

This was my favorite read of 2023 and I didn’t think I could love it anymore. The narrators did an excellent job capturing all the little nuances of the story some may have missed. How can you not root for the Noor? The underdog who endured soooo much but still had the tenacity and gumption to go for hers!!! Abject poverty, physical abuse, mental abuse, sexual abused, survived Skid Row just to be sexually assaulted then trafficked !! Many would have given up but Noor persevered and is this close, 👌 to her dream man! Takerra Allen’s writing and story telling is amazing 🙏🏽

Had me dialed in the while time!

Trauma, abuse, complicated feelings, sweetness and audacity! Whew child! That's my description of Noor. Great listen, running to start part 2!

Wow

This story and its narration was truly created with Black Excellence!!! Im highly impressed with this author. Her character development is amazing!

Conflicted

I finished and will listen to the 2nd book because I have to see it through. This story was disturbing…I didn’t like Noor overall and hoping she kind of grows on me. Right now she is super annoying. I felt bad for her yet it was odd that she learned nothing in her many experiences. Sigh…If you knew better then you should do better as a human.

Noor is a mess

This story was hard to listen to. Noor grated my nerves the entire book. What is it with men reaching a level of success to risk it all? What is it with women to give our all and lose ourselves in a man? Whew, I remember being a broken and young married women with kids. On to part 2 to see the end.

All things come to the light!

The trauma this young lady endured was heartbreaking! I was routing for her to get it together and for everything to turn out better. It was a wild story. The characters had me yelling at them. I recommend it.

Wow!!!

Ok, this book had my emotions all over the place. It started slow, but the drama laced all through kept you engaged. The MFC is sooooo annoying!!! Good grief! She did however have a rough upbringing. The author did a great job bringing hard issues to the forefront. Excellent writing. Love Both narrators! On to book 2 and more emotional angst!
