Resumen del Editor

Poor Neccabashar. As the youngest demon on the Evil Council, he’s tried everything to gain the respect of the elder demons and still they ignore and slight him at every opportunity. But Neccabashar has a plan, a scheme that will finally garner him the respect he so craves: he will bring evil and chaos to the last pure bastion of good, the Happy Kingdom.

A wickedly fun fairytale!

The book follows poor Neccabasher, as he tries to spread evil through the kingdom. Filled with humor, and mishaps as he goes. The story builds quickly and flows nicely. The narration is well done. If you like your fairytales a little less Disney, this is for you! Recommended for people of all ages.

A not so evil demon- great preteen story

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would definitely listen to another. It is an uncomplicated, comedic story about a demon who tries to prove himself by disrupting Happy Kingdom. He searches and finds the one person in Happy Kingdom to assist him- a young girl who is his perfect kind of evil. He hatches a plan to gain her help, but not everything goes as he expected.
For a demon, he loves his horse, has a mom that worries about him, and draws lines in the “evil sand” that he does not cross. He’s kind of a softy- which makes things all the more amusing.

This is the third book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Hannibal Hills ) and I absolutely enjoy his narrating style and voices. He used distinct character voices, and accents with clarity and good pacing, and drew me into the story so I could forget I was being read to. He brings out the character’s personalities and adds humour with his talent in voice acting. The story would not be the same without his narration

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing. This is a great story for preteens and up. The antics the ‘evil’ ones get up to are tame. Although it’s clear there is a second book, this story has a conclusion.

Lighthearted fun!

Happy Kingdom is a place where peace and happiness abounds. That is a big problem for Neccabashar, the youngest demon on the Evil Council. He has come up with an idea to disrupt Happy Kingdom. It is his dominion and his responsibility. He believes his new plan will cause great chaos and bring him the respect he deserves. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned.

I enjoyed the story, especially the concept of Neccabashar being a demon who was not pure evil, just a bringer-of-chaos. I liked his loyal companions, Gerk a goblin and Torment, a horse. I liked the story behind the Knight who did not want to be a Knight and the simpleton who got respect and a break. There were a lot of delightful characters and back-stories that kept me interested, only one small part was irksome.

There were so many interesting characters in this book. Neccabashar was especially likable as was his Goblin, Gerk. I loved Hannibal Hill's narration of all the characters, especially the voice of Gerk. I couldn't get enough of Gerk! He was so funny. I was surprised that Hannibal Hill could voice these characters and convey the intended humor as he did. He narrated such wicked characters in "Unknown" with his ominously commanding voice. I almost think his narration inspires an extra star out of me when I listen to him.

Loved it!

I absolutely loved this book. It is very funny and tongue-in-cheek. The demonic main character is likable and engaging. The narration is VERY well done and really brings this story to life. I pretty much binge-listened to this and finished it in a day because I was enjoying it so much.

A Delightful Demon Tale with a Great Narrator

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review. All opinions are my own.

The book is about Neccabashar, a demon, who hatches a plan to take over Happy Kingdom. He is sure that the other demons will notice and this will garner him the praise he seeks. So, he goes to Happy Kingdom and begins his work, by whispering doubts into the ears of the villagers which cause them to make different decisions or wonder about their neighbor. [I don't want to divulge the exact plan or how he goes about accomplishing his goal.] Neccabashar also has a mother, who worries about him and cooks him dinner. This is a delightful tale of good v. evil and what really makes for a happy life. The story can be enojyed by kids [probably from 8 or 9 years old] through adults. There are plenty of nice lessons to be learned and some of the characters in the book are children, to whom the younger listeners could relate. There is plenty of humor in the story and some real comical moments.

The narrator, Hannabal Hills, was fantastic! His voice reminded me of Tom Ellis from Lucifer. Just a perfect fit. He did voices for the different characters and his narration was very smooth and very pleasant on the ears. Just like Neccabashar, he can cast a spell.

Great tale

I really enjoyed this story. Neccabashar is just trying to move up in the underworld like anybody else and his intentions to influence a young bad girl from happy kingdom eventually blow up in his face. This was a great light hearted read. Hannibal Hills did a great job narrating. He really brought all the characters to life from the demon, his goblin servant, the knight and countless others. I will save this story to listen to with the whole family as we take a trip to the beach this summer. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Neccabashar

Neccabashar is a demon on the Evil Council, but he just can’t seem to get any respect. He’s got a plan... he will corrupt Happy Kingdom. What ensues is a humorous tale as nothing seems to go as planned.

Vee James has a wonderful sense of humor and I loved his writing style. Couple that with a fantastic narration by Hannibal Hills, and you have a real winner.

My Rating
Story: 4 / Narration: 5

Book Summary:
Neccabashar is a demon who works on the Evil Council. He's got the lowest position on the counsel, and they never listen to his suggestions or advice or take him at all seriously. His assigned dominion of Happy Kingdom is suffering...with goodness. He has been on the hot seat for his region not producing enough evil minions and he's sick of it. To rectify this and prove he is worthy of his position, he goes to Happy Kingdom in search of the most evil person in the land to use as his pawn in spreading evil's bad word. His source of pure evil ends up being a little girl, of course. Together, they start pitting the citizens against one another, causing terrible mischief, and working to get the Knight of the Realm replaced with one they can use as a puppet. Not everything goes as plan. At all.

This book is funny. I haven't read anything by Vee James previously, so I went in knowing nothing about the author's style. It's interesting enough to keep you reading and the characters are developed enough to become vested. The antics are silly, fun and rated PG-13. Had the story been left open for more, I would more than likely listen to the next. However, Vee James wrapped his story up nice and neat at the end, unlike so many books out there that seems rushed just to end or we are left with thinking it should be more. Thankfully this was all wrapped up as a stand alone book should be.

The narrator for the audiobook Hannibal Hills was fantastic. I love his voice. FULL STOP. His character voicing was great and I knew who was who, which is sometimes hard if you don't have a quality narrator. Hannibal Hills is quality. I'll search out other books he has narrated. You KNOW that a bad narrator can ruin the whole book. Not Hannibal Hills! He definitely helps this book earn its 4 stars. He's a 5 star narrator imo.

The only con I have about this book is that is feels like it was penned by a YA writer who is trying to break out of YA and into mainstream Comedic Supernatural for a broader audience, but fails to quite get out of YA. It's not bad, but this borderlines YA and nonYA and I think a distinction should be made.

TLDR: Funny story. Great narrator. More YA than Comedic Supernatural, but as long as you know that and like YA/Supernatural Comedies, you should have no problem. I recommend it for people who DO like YA & Supernatural Comedies.
