John Solo
After my brothers-in-arms have all moved out, I’m suffering from a kind of empty nest syndrome. The only one left is Forest, Creek’s little brother.
Except he’s not that little. He’s seriously hot and sassy, and the way I dream about him is anything but brotherly.
But he’s too young for me, too innocent. Too…perfect. He doesn’t need a man with my kind of baggage.
When he gets sick, I’m there for him, even when he allows no one else in.
I will do anything to take care of him…and that includes marrying him so he’ll have health insurance.
But when fake becomes real, I don’t know what to do. Forest may need me, but how do I explain to him that I need him just as much?
Nash is the fourth book in the Honorably Discharged Series, which can be listened to as standalones but are much more fun if listened to in order.

🎧📚🎧Another exceptional audiobook production and listen performed by John Solo, who does an amazing job bringing these characters to life. He gives each character their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who, with voices that have been consistent throughout the series. His character voices are always fitting to their personalities, and his portrayal of the two leads, Nash and Forest, was perfection. John Solo’s performances are consistently enjoyable; he is entertaining, and his captivating performance keeps you invested in the story.

I’m used to the fake relationship trope being pretty much straight out of the gate, some suspension of disbelief insane idea the MCs jump into right away, let the chaos ensue. The fake relationship doesn’t appear until much later in this story. The authors introduce the characters and establish a platonic relationship first. The “fake” one comes about organically for them. It seems plausible in the context of their reality. It was refreshing to see a deviation from form.
Unfortunately, the back half of the book felt forced. I stopped enjoying it. It felt tedious. If I hadn’t already come as far as I had with these characters and this series, I’d likely have bailed.
Luckily, the very very end pulled me back in and gave me satisfying feel good conclusion.
The “I really liked it - I really disliked it - ahh, a nice ending” experience does make it hard to rate the book, though. John Solo is a decent narrator. I’d say this was a middle of the road performance from him. I’ve heard him do better, but there’s nothing bad about this narration. As a stand alone, I’d probably rate this book lower, but this being the last of our men finally finding their someone to love, I can overlook the chapters I had to force myself to get through. Overall, it’s a decent audiobook and a satisfying end to a series.
I loved it… it bored me… it gave me a satisfying ending.
