Great series, narration needs tweaking

I have really enjoyed this series. Great mysteries with just enough romance. They’re lighthearted and fun, the characters likable, and the storyline well-constructed. My only issue is that the conversation sounds stilted. I don’t know if the author is trying to sound less modern by never using a contraction, but the way the narrator reads it makes it sound contrived. Maybe if the narrator read it more conversationally (I’ll” instead if “I will,” “we’ll” instead of “we will,” etc etc.) or just changed the intonation it would make the difference, but the way it is right now is distracting and makes it sound like a more novice author wrote it. Other than that, I love it. The voices are well done and, like I said, the mysteries are just the right amount of cozy for me! Will keep listening to the series as they come out.
