A few days before Daniel Haze is to be married, he and Jason Redmond are drawn into society’s sordid underbelly when the son of Essex’s most violent crime boss is found dead in an ancient wood. They must wade through a long list of suspects to determine who hunted down Tristan Carmichael and murdered him in a way that was surely a message to his powerful father.

With members of the criminal organization infighting to gain control, Jason and Daniel must solve the case before there are more casualties—including Daniel’s wedding.

Redmond and Haze were a a wonderful, well written series. Both of the main characters, have grown and matured, each in their own way and the friendship between these two different men, has also grown and evolved, into a strong and lasting relationship.
I’m always sad when the books come to an end.
Now, the reader, Alex Lee.
I’m sure she’s a great reader, for some but not for me. Her reading is whispery and breathy. Her cadence is good but she reduced both characters to weak voiced men.
Did not care for Alex Lee’s performance at all.
Why, when the two main characters are men, is this series read by women? Wendy Wolfson read them a bit better but when they changed to Alex Lee, I kept hoping they would finally get a male reader.
Alex Lee doesn’t even do the female characters any justice, plus all the accents, particularly the so called American accents are horrendous.
I’ll continue the series but sure would like a different reader.

I love this series. I would love to see Daniel become more self confident in the next book!

Finally Daniel gets some love!

I enjoy the friendship between Jason and Daniel as it grows, acknowledging their differences and challenges. I like that the characters get to grow and change, and always get the culprit!

Great next installment, a little gritty

Jason and Daniel are faced with another completely unexpected murder. In the few days right before Daniel and Flora's wedding, a body was found tied to a tree, shot through the heart with a bag covering it's head. Follow along as Jason and Daniel try to unravel the mystery of who the killer was and why they killed. A delightful Redmond and Hayes mystery in Regency England.

So thankful the author returned to her original formula! Maybe she fired the ghost writer whose input could be so strongly felt in this series and her others. Shapiro’s writing was strong enough not to rely on the graphic sex and gratuitous gore the last few of her books were rank with. I had nearly given her up! Now I will be looking forward to the next installment in the Nicola Rayburn series in hopes these changes made their way onto those pages as well.

Better than the last 3!

I’m hoping that this is not the END of Redmond and Haze! She is such a great writer and I enjoy this series ever so much!

Such GREAT Friends!

I love this series, this was an enjoyable listen. kept me guessing. The narrator did an excellent job. Hope there is more, usually it leaves with a cliffhanger to another book.

good book!

Love this series!! Always a great story and this one did not disappoint! I am hoping there is another book in the series coming!

Another great book

This book was a disappointment for me. Daniel is still insecure in his position, still harping on about Sarah, just plain naive. And once again, Jason is the one to find the actual killer. After 15 books Daniel's character has not really developed, where as Jason's character has developed exponentially. Maybe in future books Flora will have a profound effect on Daniel and his character will grow and exorcise his insecurities. The plot / storyline was mediocre, with a surprise revelation at the end as if it would make up for everything that was lacking in the story. I am surprised at my own review. I didn't dislike the book, but I also didn't like it as much as the previous books in the series. As the next book is not out yet, I think I need to cleanse my reading palate. Love the series, just not this book.

A bit confusing, falls short
