So when a ghost in the graveyard seems to be summoning her, she takes it as a sign that she and the sheriff must travel to Maltby le Marsh to assist with a new murder investigation. Zachariah is her good friend from childhood, and as both of them have lost their spouses, a growing attraction between them makes her wonder if they can keep their relationship professional as they've always agreed to do.

An abbey might seem like a place of solace and sanctuary, but they soon discover that is far from the truth. A sheriff, a lady, her bloodhound, and a little entourage that the sheriff does not approve of, are soon headed to Maltby le Marsh where secrets, horror, and a very active ghost await them.

Very engaging medieval mystery

Sheriff Zachariah Fitch and Lady Vivienne Harlowe are heading to Maltby le Marsh Abbey to investigate the discovery of a body behind a brick wall. The duo must unravel the evidence amid secrets and lies while also negotiating the strict religious rules of the Abbey. This is the 3rd book in the series by Elizabeth Rose, but the first one I listened to and it was enjoyed as a stand-alone. The narration by Kevin E Green was outstanding. He performed unique voices for all the characters and brought the story to life.
