Up on stage, all is not well either. When Olli Onneri is brutally killed in front of his own audience during his ‘magic mirror’ trick, Posie vows to investigate, and quickly.

As Posie’s husband, Chief Inspector Lovelace, starts to pursue suspects, why can’t Posie shake off the feeling that the motive for the murder is right in front of them, in the Holborn Empire itself?

Gritty, but not too Gritty, tight narrative, and amazing narration.
Posey and Richard are a great couple, he wants to pull rank, but she's too brilliant fir him to die on that hill.

All authors of a series has their ups and downs and LB Hathaway is no exception. I almost did not buy this book because it is half the length of her normal novels.

What a mistake that would have been. This was a brilliant plot that brought together lots of interesting themes.

I enjoy and highly rate Posie’s stories, but this is the first I have given straight fives to.

While I quite like the book, .. I am more than a little cranky when faced with Bally this and Bally that,… too often makes me cringe….Editor should have caught three fourths of them and pitched them out… ugh

2 Stars Only For Saying “Bally” too often.!!!
