Suspenseful, authentic story-with parallels

Well researched story with intrigue and powerful portrayal of a small part of history that gave me moments of anxiety, because I became so tied up in the unfolding... Authentic characters which were deftly portrayed and woven together... Very enjoyable and fulfilling use of my time.

Exquisite narration

This was a riveting read and I really loved the real love inspiration behind the story. Hewitt did such an amazing job on the narration, not only with her pronunciation, but also differentiating the characters. Great book with exquisite narration!

Wise Women

I liked she showed how versatile women really are. A story that sounds like it could be happening today.

Another MacNeal Hit!

I love all of MacNeal’s books! This one I had to read at 1.25 speed because for some reason the normal speed was painfully slow and speeding it up just a notch put it to where I think the normal should be. The story is great, if you like her other books you’ll enjoy this one as well!

How tuned in to what is going on today in government!

I like the writers disgresion & use of past & current events. Brings to the forefront similar threats.

Wanted to love it...

I was a huge fan of the Maggie Hope series, but this one fell a little short for me. While the story is interesting and I appreciate this part of US history being told, because it is often neglected, it got long and repetitive for me. I found I wanted it to end about 2.5 hours before it did. I'm not sure it would have suffered for being a little shorter since so much of the story is the same - go to the bundeshaus, listen to horrible Nazi ranting, give the information to their handlers.

Interesting history

I came off reading Covenant of Wafer & this book paled by comparison. Not fair but the book was just ok.

Author has surpassed every other book she's written with historical book. Suspenseful. Accurate. Powerful. Eye-opening

You can’t enjoy the subject of this book but I feel it’s important. I feel it was well written.

Well researched , well written, she made her fiction characters relatable. Good book. Recommending it to my book club.
