Resumen del Editor

“This is the most consequential election in our history. Because right now, there are people in power who are only in power for themselves.” (Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer, 2020)

More Than a Vote: Our Voices. Our Vote. is a rallying cry to educate, inspire, and turn non-voters into voters. Formed by a coalition of Black athletes and artists headlined by NBA star LeBron James, More Than a Vote is a nonprofit voting rights organization aimed at combating voter suppression, systemic racism, and misinformation that disproportionately disenfranchises communities of color. In this one-of-a-kind special, we hear from an all-star chorus of activists and entertainers on the front lines of today’s voting rights movement. Voices include LeBron James, Octavia Spencer, Jalen Rose, Amanda Seales, Leon Bridges, Andra Day, and many more.

Hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Wesley Lowery and political analyst Tiffany D. Cross, this audio-only special arrived merely days before millions of voters headed to the ballot box. Supported by a collection of profoundly insightful interviews, Cross and Lowery expose the inner workings of voter suppression as it exists in modern times while uprooting the history of disenfranchisement in America. Like the voting rights movements of yesteryear, this empowering special is amplified by the voices of prominent leaders and stars proclaiming why they vote as well as searing original performances from musical artists and poets.

“We stand on the shoulders of ancestors that have sacrificed themselves for us to have this right,” said former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Jalen Rose. “This is likely the most important voting cycle of the United States.” These athletes, artists, and activists refuse to be quiet, will not “shut up and dribble,” and will not relent in their pursuit of truth, justice, equality, and specifically, equal access to the polls. This is a fearless, loud, and vocal call to action to both own your voice and, most importantly, use your voice.

Lebron James, more than an athlete!

These athletes, artists, and activists refuse to be quiet, will not shut-up and dribble, and will not relent in their pursuit of truth, justice, equality, and specifically, equal access to the polls. This is a fearless, loud, and vocal call to action to both own your voice and, most importantly, use your voice.

On my observation, LBJ received unfair treatment because he is black. He tried hard and his greatness exceed no matter how you hate and bring him down. #Blacklivesmatter We are equal and have the right to vote, to speak and to fight!

powerful

sadly we live in a world where people will never accept systematic racism as real. or, they choose to look away. the speakers are right. we have to continue to use our collective voices until the oppressors take action. the damage is not ours to repair, but on the ones who created the issue

Excellent window into voter suppression

This short audiobook is a really well-rounded glimpse into the long history and damaging present of voter suppression, targeting poor people and people of color. I don't normally hear from activists, singers, and athletes all in one book, so the variety was welcomed. Keep in mind, it's not meant to be a full documentation of all the instances of voter suppression. I see some reviews claiming that this is biased and there's no such thing as institutional racism. Sadly, these people were the ones bringing their bias, or they didn't get past the first monologue, because there is a fact-based intro into some of the history of institutional racism that not everyone knows about. If it sounds outlandish, that's because you're a good person who wouldn't mistreat people that way and you don't know anyone who has been mistreated based on race. But trust, these horrible things only scratch the surface, and they are very real

Short, entertaining, and super informative.

Incredibly well performed, less of a book and more of a listening experience.

Exactly the type of information we need to know to make informed, responsible voting decisions.
