Just ok

maybe it was the narrator's boring voice but this book didn't do it for me, it was grueling to get through to the end. the end was kind of flat, as well.

Good, not great.

I had hoped to enjoy this book more than I actually did. However, it became frustrating at the constant reminder that Bree was a black woman, like it wasn't made clear the first couple of times it was mentioned. Then, there was the frequent misplacement of important things like phones, keys, etc. At times, I found myself more irritated at Bree than I cared to find out who the killer was.

Satisfying twists

A bit of slowed pacing in the middle, but the reveals in the last 25% of the book are well worth the wait.

Hmmmmm I struggled

I struggled with this story and the characters. It got kinda good at the end.

Twists and Turns, Not What I Expected

First time reading a book by Kellye Garrett but I know of her from the Crime Writers of Color podcast. Based on the title of the book, I thought it was going to be more focused on race and the issues that come into play whenever a white woman or girl goes missing in America and all of the attention those cases usually get versus a missing black woman or girl, but it was not, so for me, the title was a bit misleading. As for the actual story, it was good, although I feel like there were quite a few loose ends with some of the relationships that could have been tied together just a little bit better especially as the case began to come together to be solved along with some aspects that didn't make sense, like the main character being gone from her job for so long. Overall though, a great book with lots of modern influences like Instagram, etc. I'll definitely read another mystery novel by Garrett.

Grabbed my interest

I didn’t want to stop listening. This was a great auto book and the performance was top tier!

The sound effects and passionate narratives

There’s nothing I disliked about this book. It’s current, trendy, interesting and modern. Difficult to determine it’s a fiction.

I wanted to love it

Too many coincidences. Too many forgotten phones. I couldn't connect with Bree. There were no trustworthy white women in this story, yet she kept trusting them. it felt contrived and culturally inaccurate.

Excellent Read

I love mystery novels and this was a good one. I definitely recommend! I plan to get the hard copy for my collection.

Wanted to enjoy it

Just felt flat. Meh. The plot was there until it gave way. I enjoyed like a sister enough to try this one but I could’ve done without this read.
