A new series to look forward to

The mystery and story is well thought out. The characters involvement isn’t too much beyond the possibility of them being involved in helping to solve the murder.
The characters are being well developed. Our two leading ladies are well balanced and enjoyable.
It wasn’t necessarily needed, but the only thing missing to make it my ideal book would be touches of humor,
Historical mysteries are one of my favorite genre mysteries over most other kinds. This series so far has avoided some of the elements in some popular series that have turned me off them.
When a heroine is so self sufficient that they are foolish, when societal inequalities of the time aren’t just mentioned or casually discussed in the story for context but the stories dialogue is heavily scripted to repeatedly beat on about all the many injustices of the times, heroines can’t seem to be positive examples of forward thinking individuals that can still be socially respectful instead some authors seem to think the “bull in a china shop” societal approach as necessary. Women or men of intelligence and forward thinking will sometimes be extremely promiscuous giving the impression that such lifestyles is a much better ideal to strive to achieve.

Sorry about my rant, I get frustrated with series that have great potential and fantastic writing wasted due to these unfortunate elements.

Ready for the next one!

The mystery keeps you guessing, the characters are well fleshed out & interesting. Worth the credit. The only down vote goes to narrator lilting of words. It was very off putting to me in the beginning. Once I moved the speed to 1.2 I hardly noticed it at all & began to enjoy the narrators voice. Her accents are excellent.

Better than the 1st one

This installment was much improved over book one largely because of a much better performance by the narrator. Characters are interesting personalities & the story in engaging.

I love this series so far

This is one of my new favorite mystery series of the past 2 years. I just discovered it. Devoured the 1st two books by "tandem reading" on Kindle/Audible. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the 3rd book and sad I have to wait over 3 months.

Clever plot that keeps you guessing

I liked glimpsing a time that’s very different from ours with different rules. I like the heroine who’s remarkably cool under pressure thanks to an unfortunate childhood. Fascinating plot!

Great mystery!

Well written with well-thought-out characters. A great mystery that I highly recommend to the period mystery lover.
