Great read

a little slow with a bit much filler, but overall excellent mystery. Should be a TV series!

I was disappointed by the ending. The narrator was excellent, but I thought the story could have been better.

Historical Fiction Mystery That Delivers

There are a lot fun historical details and classic mystery plot twists in this book that I enjoyed.

Wow! This book delivers!

Miss Aldridge Regrets has all the earmarks of a first rate Christie-like mystery. Whole lots of books attempt this feat, Miss Aldridge is one of the rare books that delivers.

It does have two timelines but they are both handled well. The settings for both are rich and evocative. The plot twists and turns at every opportunity. The pacing is constant, it never lets up. Most importantly, our heroine is engaging, complex, and very human.

I loved this book and am hoping it is the first in a series.

A lovely read

I really enjoyed this book and it had me guessing until the very end. There was great writing and I enjoyed the historical fiction aspect of the closed circle mystery. Definitely worth the read!

Not really a mystery

This is less of a mystery novel and more of a book following Lena around as she has things happen to her. She doesn’t solve anything as such, rather the mystery unfolds around her. I think it could have been shorter, many points where the point could have been made sooner. It’s marginally entertaining but I did forward it at many spots.

Good airplane read

Not a great literary masterpiece but a good escape from the world. The characters are out of a 1930 film noire movie. It was fun read

Twist and turns keeps your interest throughout.

My interest in steam ships brought me to this book and I not not let down by the story telling either.

Highly recommend this story! I’m now on the search for more of Ms. Hare’s work

Terrible story, mediocre narrator

Not a single likable character in the book. Story drags on too long. Main character makes soooo many utterly stupid and inexplicable choices that it’s really hard to care what happens. What a waste of a credit.
