Acerca de esta escucha

When Nick Hall wakes up in a dumpster - bloodied, without a memory, and hearing voices in his head - he knows things are bad. But they're about to get far worse. Because he's being hunted by a team of relentless assassins. Soon Hall discovers that advanced electronics have been implanted in his brain, and he now has two astonishing abilities. He can surf the web using thoughts alone. And he can read minds. But who inserted the implants? And why? And why is someone so desperate to kill him?

As Hall races to find answers, he comes to learn that far more is at stake than just his life. Because his actions can either catapult civilization to new heights - or bring about its total collapse.

Extrapolated from actual research on thought-controlled web surfing, Mind's Eye is a smart, roller-coaster ride of a thriller. One that raises a number of intriguing, and sometimes chilling, possibilities about a future that is just around the corner.

Good Story, except for the blatant advertising & cheesy narrator

The story was ok. My main issue was with the gentleman reading the book. He sounded as though he was reading a soap opera or a harlequin romance novel. I probably would have rated the overall story higher if I didn't have to hear the product placement reference me and his cheesy narrative.

Very Entertaining If Not A Bit Alarming

I enjoyed this book. The subject matter had me on the fence at first, but as I quickly and easily became immersed in the story, I was entrenched and "couldn't put it down". Adam did an excellent job narrating and his different characters voices were well done. Made me feel like I was right there watching everything... with my minds eye! Ha! Gotcha!
Really, really good book that I will recommend to many. It flowed real smooth and was exciting at times and the mystery was done superbly. Looking forward to the next book.

Complex plot!

implants to give access to the web with a twist of ESP. The plot is complex and doesn't really resolve fully till the end. No spoilers here. But the fact that it all has to be explained in a couple of long sessions among the chief characters at the end tells you that it's not a story to figure out along the way. Still, the premise and the way it's worked out though contrived between at least two characters, is interesting!

Dangers of Technology and Idealism

This book was not bad. Some of the writing could have been better, but on the whole I enjoyed it.

The opening of the book had me intrigued. The mystery behind the protagonist and his powers had me hooked. If not, I would have given up during the middle.

The middle story opened up to some predictable tropes of this genre. The love stories (there are two, a major and a minor) that form here are useful but uninspired. And some other "twists" just fall flat. But the twist in the climax of this story I did not see coming, and that made me glad I finished this book.

The production of this book was good.

Minus a few pronunciations that were just plain wrong, I thought the performance was fantastic.

Great read/ listen

The best I’ve listened to for some time. Douglas E Richards mind must be mush by the time he’s finished writing these!

Painfully cheesy

The twists and turns could have been written by an 8th grader. I was hoping for something more believable and sophisticated. The narrator is especially painful to listen to. His stereotypical “evil” voice gives away the plot even before the bad writing. I like the premise of the story—it’s just too obvious.

Nice idea, excellent performance

Liked the first half a lot, although the main character kept going out of his way to be stupid and explain his powers to everyone he met. In the second half, the events and characters got even more stupid. It turned into a sappy romance. Characters fell in love immediately. The book said repeatedly, "There's something in the water" (i.e. love) Supposedly smart protagonists tell the enemies everything. All about their abilities and communication, etc. At the end, I felt all the heroes deserved to die from being so stupid.

Excellent, beginning to end.

Loved this book. Plenty of action and technological gizmos. Very entertaining. I have already purchased the second book in the series.

Captivating Read

What if it were possible to implant the human brain with implements making it possible to surf the web automatically ... in the mind’s eye? What are the implications of something like that? What are the dangers? And what could “bad guys” do with that kind of technology? Very interesting tale with a decent level of suspense. I’ll look for more from this author. 4 stars.
