Long distance running is much like any other fitness training. If you want to improve, you need a good plan that has a progressive nature. If you are new to this game, you need a solid foundation to build on. Having a running program is not the only thing that you need. Sound advice and running tips should be taken from someone who has "walked the walk", or in this case, "ran the run".

Hi, my name is James Atkinson from jimshealthandmuscle.com. I'm a qualified fitness coach and personal trainer and I have a fair bit of running advice that I would like to share with you. When I was around 18 years old, I was a terrible runner! In fact, I failed the basic fitness test for army entrance on running alone, and I failed big time! Several years later, I was clearing 1.5 mile running circuits in eight minutes and 22 seconds and could easily run a marathon any day of the week! I would like to share my knowledge and training experiences with you.

If you are a beginner when it comes to running, this information will no doubt give you advice that will probably not have even crossed your mind before. If you are already a runner and are looking to make more progression, you are also in the right place. I know that it is easy to get stuck on a training plateau, so I have also added some information and training methods to this book that will help you leave the plateau behind.

The running buddy I’ve always wanted

As a beginner, I was looking for a foundations book that was both technical and frank; Jim didn’t let me down! I truly with the book had been longer and I could have continued my “relationship” with Jim as my fitness progressed. On the whole, Jim managed to get to the point, give me all the important bits that I need to know and now I feel like I can do it!

To the point

This book is great and to the point. It will require you to do a little bit of searching on your own like finding the right shoes at the right place, etc. this book is more on the correct approach and setting a plan in place that will lead you to success when followed.

The book was easy to listen to and is great for people looking to get into running and possibly getting into marathons. Good “read”.

Great listen, and useful content

I am about to try my first marathon, and was listening to your audiobook while training. the marathon is 12 days away and there were many useful tips I could use during training and during the race. thank you.

PS - I only started running since Oct 13 2019 for a 5km race... and since then I have ran 10km and 21km respectively... I am trying to complete a full marathon before the end of the year so it's 0-42km in 10weeks .. I have watch alot of YouTube videos and this is the first audio book I listen to while doing endurance training runs.. I am glad I chose your book.

Really enjoyed it!

I was listening to this while running and was able to correct some posture and breathing things right away. The author did try to sell it a little too much towards the end by asking for reviews but because of the value of his work, I needed to give a positive review. Recommend!

I started running two months ago. I’ve seen a lot of great progress and I’m making strides (pun intended) but this book gave me the tools I’ve been looking for. Full of practical and useful advice, and as well as real life examples and anecdotes to drive the points home, I ended up listening to the whole book in a day. Definitely going through it again.

If you’re thinking about getting into running for whatever reason, or are early in the journey like me, this book is essential.

Just OK

This books has some good tips for people who just beginning to run. However, I think it fell short on the content and there’s way too much self promotion.
