Resumen del Editor

For the first time, there are five distinct generations sharing the workplace at many American companies - from Baby Boomer to Generation Z. That means an age difference of up to 60 years and a multitude of experiences and attitudes. More crucially, it means there are tremendous challenges - as well as significant opportunity - when trying to foster collaboration between these diverse groups.

In this workshop, workplace culture expert (and proud Gen Xer) Jennifer Romolini examines this extraordinary phenomenon and how it has upended typical management strategies. She guides you through the biases and stereotypes that can cause intergenerational teams to stumble, exploring how to encourage collaboration across diverse working styles. And she shows how fresh thinking, innovative hiring and reporting structures, and effective communication can build teams in which everyone thrives, innovates, and succeeds.

Key takeaways:

  • How age stereotypes can linger even in the most progressive workplaces
  • Why some management styles don’t work in today’s diverse office
  • Why avoiding labels - even in jest - is vital
  • How to recognize the difference between self-advocacy and entitlement
  • How hiring across generations can inject vitality and diversity

Great Info for Quick Reminders

Good quick run-through, and reminder, of how to properly act in a business setting. The background noises kept making me think that my phone was ringing. They could’ve done without that “music.”

good reminder to treat people as individuals

A one hour seminar on how to look at treating your teams is individuals rather than as prejudged groups across different age spectrum with prejudged biases and challenges of them. Shared by a manager who still remembers the mistakes she made And the lessons she learned.

short, sweet, informative

great quick listen for those who want to brush up on their management style. What's nice is, she's not trying to change the world with groundbreaking brand new ideas. This book is more like listening to a friend tell you about how they manage. Personally, it helped me recognize how some elements of my style and her style have similarities. And her style gave me ideas on how to better define my style, and refine my approach in a more targeted, goal oriented way.
