The narrator is the best. Enjoyed it very much. Will now read other Lucy books.

Outstanding!

I love the world that Elizabeth Strout has created. I found this particular story near but not quite up to par. The narration, however, was so spot on that I readily overlooked any shred of weakness.

Another masterpiece by my favorite author

I absolutely love Strout’s books. The complexity and loveliness of the characters is amazing. I am excited to ensure I’ve read all of them.

It just made me sad

Hated that ending.... Disliked the cheating husband and felt main character was weak to go back to him.

Reconnecting with other books by Strout

How welcoming it is to open a book and be reacquainted with all of Lucy’s family, with Catherine from Abide With Me, with Olive Kitteridge and the dearness of the people who love Lucy and whom Lucy loves.
Read this one and then find another one so you can cherish all of the interwoven tales.

About done with Lucy

My book group and I feel this material wasn’t that fresh, although there were some great observations showing great humanity and insight into characters, as well as relatable descriptions about the weirdness of living with early Covid. But we felt these characters didn’t warrant another book. It felt like coasting on past success.

Another wonderful oh-so-human book from Elizabeth Strout

This author captures so many elements of the nuances of human experience, thought, emotion as they intertwine through the important relationships in life. She has such a wonderful gift of expressing universal concerns through prose that flows easily, conversationally, but touches profound depths.
