Kept me listening

A well written story that kept me engaged. I thought the characters were well developed and the plot twists kept me guessing. This is set in the 1990s so our society was different back then and it’s kind of cool to reminisce about those times. I was in my 20s in the 1990s. It was a kinder gentler society. This book was no gore, no uncomfortable to read about sex scenes, minimal vulgar language. I think you can tell a good story without all of that and Patricia MacDonald has done that time and time again.

Great Story!

Patricia MacDonald’s characters are well developed and the plot is well written. The story moves at a good pace and it was hard to stop listening. MacDonald is a master story teller. I have read a few of her other books.

Entertaining Listen

I haven't read anything by this author before, but I was looking for something entertaining while taking a fast from television, and this didn't disappoint. It was a little slow at first, but quickly sped up and was easy to follow. The story is really good, not sure if it's really a "Psychological" Thriller, but it's definitely got a character or two that aren't all there. Not a lot of gratuitous violence, though there is some, but a lot of blaspheming, which I don't think added much to the plot, but again a thrilling story about lies, deceit and complex relationships. I quite liked the dialogue, the narrator was very adept at this, making each character sound different and have their own personality, so convo sounded really authentic between two separate people; also it didn't sound dry and "clinically" narrated, (which I don't care for and is the main reason I don't really listen to audiobooks much), she read the story dramatically like a play, I really enjoyed that and will seek her out again for more audiobooks in the future; again, I don't listen often, but this was an enjoyable respite from nightly television watching. All-in-all, wonderful, dramatic narration with a soothing voice, good overall storyline and plot, would recommend.

I have read all of MacDonald’s books, and this story is just as good as the rest of her work. The narration was just okay for me; the Bostonian accents were harsh to my ears!
