Resumen del Editor

Don’t think about it...don’t talk about it...and if you feel a prickling on the back of your neck...don’t turn around!

Matt Hardison doesn’t believe in the Shadowstealer, an evil spirit that could steal a person’s shadow and demand they sacrifice pieces of themselves. It was just a local boogeyman, a gruesome campfire yarn to frighten youngsters; not something that adults took seriously.

The Shadowstealer is Matt’s new novel, a bestseller featuring the creepy legend that frightened him as a child. However, Matt has forgotten one very important thing about the Shadowstealer: it can only claim your shadow if you believe in it...and his new book has just created thousands of believers....

Let there be dark.

This was a good book.I enjoyed it.I was waiting for some horror, and it finally came! Ancient words told by mouth are brought back to haunt us when written down. Jeffrey Lynn Hutchins was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Good concept, hard to get through.

Narrator good, southern dialect good. Got lost with the different characters. The creature, the dark, was better than most. Gore, adequately portrayed. Shades of King. Ending abrupt, like this review...

👍🏻

If you don’t like slow burn stories then you’ll find this pretty boring. I really enjoyed the classic horror style.

The narrator was excellent.

Loved it, don't believe in the Shadowstealer, tho

Nice. This book has a good little twist that reminded me of the movie the Skeleton Key, the one where you have to believe it can happen for it to happen. Same thing here, a monster called the Shadowstealer exists, sort of like being a Tulpa, and it can only hurt you if you believe in it. Too bad the MC writes a book about making believers all over the place!

Good flow, good idea, good characters all combine for an outstanding story.

Narration was just bangin'. Added just the right things to the story to make it Hutchins' own baby.

Confused

I had a hard time with this book. The story seemed to drag on forever. The narrator was what kept me listening. When the story finally picked up toward the end, it was good. Just wish it hadn’t taken so long to get to the scary stuff.

Good read

There were some parts that kinda dragged out a little longer than necessary but not bad and not to many. Other than that it was a really good story and original, where as a lot of horror stories all have same plot just different characters and location. The only real problem I had with it was the constant use of GD in lot of areas through out the story. I don’t know why authors seem to think people use that phrase so often and in every other sentence from certain characters in their story especially I find when the story takes place in the south. I grew up in Georgia and I honestly don’t know anyone who talks like that. And find it unnecessary to portray characters even the harsher ones that way. I’ve known some pretty rough characters in my forty years and even they use it very rarely. Not that regular profanity bothers me , when I was younger my mother said I had the mouth of a sailor which would always get me in trouble and I still knew better than to ever utter that word. Anyways aside from that I did really like the story and would be interested in hearing more stories from him. Also loved the narrator he did great. Especially with the different characters, you always know which person was talking by the different voices he used for each. I’ll also be keeping a lookout for more of his work as well. And I never like giving away the story in my reviews cause I personally hate it when others give you the entire story in the review and doesn’t leave you anything to forward to. But I will just say next time you notice that your shadow is missing when everyone else’s is before them, DONT LOOK BACK. I was given this audio in exchange for honest and fair review. Happy listening.

vein of Stephen King

I received this audiobook in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

This was a surprisingly good book. The narrator does a great job with the accents of the different characters which really helps bring them to life. The story itself reminded me very much of an older Stephen King novel. While the story is dated in some areas, I had a fun time trying to figure out when this story was meant to take place. Despite being a bit dated, the story isn't affected too much by this and easily could see this story taking place in more modern times. This was quite a long listen (+12 hours or so) but doesn't feel long, nor does the story drag feeling like it should have ended 20 chapters ago. Good lite listen that will keep you entertained for hours.

Solid Horror Saga

First and foremost this was written in 1994 so it definitely fits more in that time period than this one in terms of extremity and themes. Once you get past that you're in for a bit of a slowburn delight as you hear about the Shadowstealer, a boogyman and urban legend akin to Candyman. So what happens when the main character writes a story about the Shadowstealer without realizing it exists, creating believers of something that can only attack those who believe? Well you'll have to listen to this story to find out but it's a great time.
