After completing her first year of learning magic at Whitehall School, Emily accepts an invitation from Princess Alassa to accompany her on her progress back to her home country of Zangaria, where the princess may meet her future husband. But dark forces are at work, plotting to capture the princess, take power in Zangaria, and undo all of Emily's work. As all hell breaks loose, Emily may be all that stands between Zangaria and a return to the dark ages of brute force that threatened to lay the kingdom low once before. And if she fails, her friends will be just the first victims of a war that will rip the Allied Lands apart.

Better written than the first.

if you enjoyed the first book, you will definitely enjoy this one.

Also Tavia Gilbert helps deliver the story of the book. As always, she is at her best.

I love this series! I've re-read or listened to this series multiple times. It's got magic, other worlds, and lots of personality building/growth.

Still unexpectedly interesting

What can I say? This series is still unexpectedly interesting. Can't wait until the next book.

Can't get enough!

I stumbled on the first book by accident. By mid book I was hooked . Book two was full of surprises and turns super excited I know there is only one more audible book but I am okay with it because it so good I will read it

love this book and all the twists and turns you never can guess what's going to happen next... And love Tavia Gilbert she is the best narrator and all her voices are amazing!!!!!

My favorite series

Way better than Harry Potter!!! I'm on book 11 and they only get better and better... The first couple books may be similar to Harry Potter but keep reading

This author is incapable

This author is incapable of telling a story without putting introspection and inner monologue. In every sentence. it takes a half an hour to have a five minute conversation. Also, Quite a few emotions that the main character portrays doesn’t make any sense either. are you at five-year-old girl or a 18-year-old woman I’m on book 20 and it continues to do that.

Very good

The second book is amazing. I enjoy each minute, because remind me a version to Game of Throbes. Here we have many realms, a lot of intrigue, magic and the problem of how easy the the information can be distorted by the troubadours or "newspapers". Emily need to So, Emly must learn to deal with the fame that precedes her in every kingdom she and Alassa visit, and find their place in this magical world. To complicate matters, a plot is being architected around them and resolving the situation results in something unexpected and with consequences that have spread over the long term.
the book is very good. It's really worth it
