Another Earth nobody chosen to hep save the univer

Max Tyco, an out of shape truck drive, becomes a dangerous warrior after training by the Rowky, a fraternity of intergalactic guardians. Max is a whinny trainee, but once in shape, he is a natural fighter, and becomes a key team member. Even then, he obsesses over his dead wife. This is a fun and enjoyable book.

Boring

While the writing is okay and there was a a lot going on the MC is boring. He’s selected because he’s special and has so much potential but you never see it in this book. Just a boring MC that doesn’t do anything special except be willing to die for everything. Plus it’s way too short, listened in a day of lawn work.

The Orville Meets Starship Troopers

Galactic Guardians hits hard and fast with a tongue-in-cheek tale of a widowed truck driver (Max Tyco) who goes from defending a rest stop from a robbery attempt to being abducted by aliens into the intergalactic version of the Foreign Legion. What follows is a romp through Space Boot Camp followed by an infantryman's tale full of adventure, humor and good old fashioned bloodshed. Sometimes I can’t decide if this is a fever dream of the protagonist or if the universe really is just a bit of a half-joke. Either way, the story works surprisingly well. Bravo to Jonathan for writing something refreshingly entertaining, with plenty of tummy tickling pop culture references sprinkled in for good measure.

Not as good as I hoped

I love science-fiction and I am willing to put up with a lot of in discrepancies in a book.
This Book was just OK enough for me to finish it. But I doubt if I’ll follow the story.

it was ok

I liked the story mostly but not enough to for sure continue the series. Pretty decent characters and humor mixed in with adventure it just didn't pull me in to be invested. Narrator was great.

A fun and action packed book

This is the first book from J. Yanez I’ve listened to. It was a fun book to listen to, and is a departure from the audiobooks I typically gravitate to. So not only was the storyline good, I thought the narration was also very good. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

45 minutes remaining

45 minutes remaining and I couldn’t finish the book. I just lost all interest in the story. I was barely listening for the last 2 hours. Not a bad book, but just not particularly interesting!

Incredible

I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. My only complaint is Jeffery Kafer may not have been the best choice when considering it’s read in Max’s perspective, but he still does an amazing job.

Refreshingly fun!

An enjoyable listen that is funny, clean and full of adventure! Usually difficult to find in today’s world but a treat for the family.

Creative writing!

As always, Yanez does an excellent job writing about a commoner, aspiring to greatness, who is thrust into a situation where greatness is needed. Through the whole book, I feel I can relate to Max through the “3 shells” quote from Demolition Man to the cases of Red Bull to the various movie-themed t-shirts. I always enjoy how he makes me relate to the outlandish.
