Resumen del Editor

Winner of the 2020 Audie Award for Best Male Narrator

"[Narrator Robert Bathurst] engages us completely...If you haven't listened to this series, start at once. You'll love your stay in Three Pines." (AudioFile Magazine on A Great Reckoning)

Kingdom of the Blind, the new Chief Inspector Gamache audiobook from the number one New York Times best-selling author.

When a peculiar letter arrives inviting Armand Gamache to an abandoned farmhouse, the former head of the Sûreté du Québec discovers that a complete stranger has named him one of the executors of her will. Still on suspension, and frankly curious, Gamache accepts and soon learns that the other two executors are Myrna Landers, the bookseller from Three Pines, and a young builder.

None of them had ever met the elderly woman.

The will is so odd and includes bequests that are so wildly unlikely that Gamache and the others suspect the woman must have been delusional. But what if, Gamache begins to ask himself, she was perfectly sane?

When a body is found, the terms of the bizarre will suddenly seem less peculiar and far more menacing.

But it isn’t the only menace Gamache is facing.

The investigation into what happened six months ago - the events that led to his suspension - has dragged on, into the dead of winter. And while most of the opioids he allowed to slip though his hands, in order to bring down the cartels, have been retrieved, there is one devastating exception.

Enough narcotic to kill thousands has disappeared into inner city Montreal. With the deadly drug about to hit the streets, Gamache races for answers.

As he uses increasingly audacious, even desperate, measures to retrieve the drug, Armand Gamache begins to see his own blind spots. And the terrible things hiding there.

Louise Penny is awesome

If you haven’t read any of her series, please do start with book 1, Still Life. I’m sure they could stand alone, but there is a lot of back story and I have loved them all.
This one was full of twists that kept me guessing, although I did suspect one particular twist, knowing Gamache’s character. It didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the book in any way.
This is a police procedural, with each book advancing the character development of the main series.

another jewel in Penny's crown

Full of surprises revealed with gentle and loving grace. Hard to do when the subject is violence, only Louise Penny can do it so beautifully.

Like sitting down with old friends

I always await the next Inspector Gamache book with great anticipation. Starting Kingdom of the Blind was like sitting down with old friends to hear a good story. Some plot lines were a bit fairy tale; others almost too true to life. I have no idea what Louise Penny will write next, but I'm already anticipating the next storytelling session..

Another Satisfying Inspector Gamache Mystery

Once again, Louise Penny has written a satisfying story with much greater depth to it than the typical mystery.

Another great tale of Three Pines!

Old group of Three Pines characters return to weave another intriguing tale.

I had to go back and listen to the last few chapters to untangle the history and finances, all of which was very interesting.
I’m always amazed at the sub stories that are included in this series. Many if which have led me to research geography, poets, artists and history in the midst of the books!
Thanks Ms Penny!!
Keep writing!!

14th WONDERFUL book in the series!

Well done Ms Penny!! I've read and listened to each of the 14 books. This one is the same in that many stories are being told...but SUCH interesting stories! At one point I was so angry at one of the main characters then later felt ashamed. Ms Penny hooked me in! New characters entering, evolving story lines, characters possibly leaving. What a wonderful bag of tricks.

Wonderful mystery

I have now read every book in this series. As each book progressed so did the story telling, the writing and the author's ability to produce an intellectual mystery. The theme of drugs is pertinent to today. The theme of corruption at all levels of business is pertinent. But more than that the theme that we as individuals choose how we want our families to be and how we keep our hearts intact. Great book! I highly recommend it.
