Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before.

'Neighbours... hah. People'd live for ages side by side, nodding at one another amicably on their way to work, and then some trivial thing would happen and someone would be having a garden fork removed from their ear.'

When the neighbours in question are the proud empires of Klatch and Ankh-Morpork, those are going to be some pretty large garden tools indeed. Of course, no-one would dream of starting a war without a perfectly good reason...such as a 'strategic' piece of old rock in the middle of nowhere.

It is after all every citizen's right to bear arms to defend their own. Even if it isn't technically their own. And even if they don't have much in the way of actual weaponry. As two armies march, Commander Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch faces unpleasant foes who are out to get him... and that's just the people on his side. The enemy might be even worse.

The Discworld novels can be read in any order but Jingo is the fourth book in the City Watch series.

Reseñas de la Crítica

'Pratchett's writing is a constant delight. No one mixes the fantastical and the mundane to better comic effect or offers sharper insights into the absurdities of human endeavour'
'Generous, amusing and the ideal boarding point for those who have never visited Discworld'
'Vintage Pratchett... Perennially funny...A sharp satire on the futility of war'
'One of those rare writers who appeals to everyone... He satisfies the need for fast-moving breathtaking plots with entirely satisfying endings, and the equally primitive desire for an alternative world, full of thrills but benign, into which one can step for pleasure and enlivenment'
'Both his inventiveness and his moral shrewdness seem inexhaustible'

I read several negative reviews about the performance so I came in with low expectations. I am happy to say that I don’t see why there have been so many comments about the tone and pacing. While it is not a perfect performance, it is a good one. I will definitely be listening to this one again.

Very entertaining

I own a lot of Discworld books, both physical and audio. This is the first of the new narration for me. I have always Loved Stephen Briggs and just seams like a completely different story without him. Also the subsets from Bill Nighy was odd for me,
This was the last of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch books I needed so I am sure I can get used to the other characters in the future but will keep my current ones.
I had wanted to get the rest of the Industrial Revolution as I am missing Moving Pictures and The Truth, but think I might wait on those now.

I do not want to take back that the story is great and I am sure the new narrators are great, just if you lived years with a certain voice as certain characters the change makes a diffrence.

I really miss Stephen Briggs. Story great

Compared to other narrations of Pratchett’s work, this was really lacking. In fact, it was barely recognizable as a Pratchett book.

Narration was really dead

Took me a minute to get used to a new voice. But I was sold by the end of it laughed out loud, a bunch of times one of the most important things about a great work of fiction is its ability to stand up to re-interpretation.

Great reinterpretation

As said in the title, the characters come alive in these books. This appears to be for the entire NightWatch series. Hoping its the same for all.

Absolutely love the individual voices of the characters as they come to life
