Resumen del Editor

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of The Truth is narrated by Mathew Baynton, star of Ghosts, Yonderland and Horrible Histories. BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'A lie can run round the world before the truth can get its boots on.'

William de Worde has somehow found himself editor of Ankh-Morpork's first newspaper. Well, with a name like that…

Launched into the world of investigative journalism, alongside reporter Sacharissa Cripslock, William soon learns that the news is a risky business. For a start, his colleagues include a band of axe-wielding dwarfs and a recovering vampire with a life-threatening passion for flash photography.

It's a big news week: the most powerful man in the city has been arrested, leaving Ankh-Morpork without a leader. And a dangerous criminal organisation will do anything to control the story...

The Discworld novels can be read in any order but The Truth is a standalone.

The first book in the Discworld series—The Colour of Magic—was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Loving having the gaps filled in.

This is the first time I am listening to the Industrial Revolution series and am love of the way it brings a new perspective on Ankh Morpork. It has taken a bit to get used to different narrators as Nigel Planer and Tony Robinson are who I am
Used to but I am enjoying the new crew too.

Acceptable performance of a great book

The book is very entertaining but that is not news.
The performance is mostly good and at times it is great. Unfortunately, there are also some vocal choices that I personally find distracting. I have a hard time listening to any part that features Vetinari, Drumknott, or Nobby Nobbs.
These voices are not featured often so the overall performance is okay.

Wonderful, but not Nigel Planar

This series is wonderful and very welcome. Some readers are better than others, but Peter Serafinowicz, and Bill Nighy are magnificent. But if you begin the amazing and heartwarming experience of listening to Terry Pratchett by hearing Nigel Planar read, there’s nothing quite like it. The humor that’s injected to every sentence is a continuous work of art. All that said, I am so happy for the current series.

One of the greatest fiction classics ever!

Unfortunately, the Stephen Briggs narration is as yet unavailable in America, but nothing can detract from this interesting and exciting work of fiction. with a intriguing plot and good philosophical standpoints, this book provides a hilarious yet thought-provoking read at the same time. following two stories at once, this book presents an interesting contrast between an honest, hardworking man, and vicous, devious criminals. what seems to be a generic story of politics and journalism, is in fact a deeply moral story, full of excitement, emotion, and political intrigue, as a newly established business competes with a corporate rival, while at the same time facing complete destruction, warding off attacks from hired grunts. highly recommended!

Must be one of my favourites.

I am a huge Terry fan, and I enjoy most of his works. This one was a tremendous amount of fun, and these new publications are done really well.

Timing and dialog

The Truth. At least until morning. Pratchetts’ satire never ceases to amuse and entertain. Was listening to a YouTube of this which cut off in the middle of a confrontational scene. Thank goodness I could grab my Audible copy and ….get the truth of it. 🤓

Not my favorite Pratchett, but still great

I get a little fatigued by Mr. Tulip and Mr. Pin, but that's just me. Terry Pratchett still has brilliant writing in this book. Despite my slight annoyance with a couple of characters, I love literally every Discworld book there is. ❤️
