Compelling

Dialogue and scene making…both excellent. Rooney plunges into the thoughts of two brothers in this novel. A new approach for her. A bit sappy at the end but she earned it.

Beyond Excellent!

The way Sally writes is so refreshing, endearing, and capturing of all that is so deeply human. The narrator adds to this poetic style with perfect tone and inflection. I grew to love all of these beautiful characters like they are dear friends and knowing them has helped me love my own family more and accept the differences that threaten to pull us apart. I want to listen over and over and I plan to! A+ to author and story and performance!

So deep and profound

I love this book. The characters are fleshed out so deeply and their dilemma is poignant. I was sad when the book was over.

Gorgeous Telling of Grief

The writing is outstanding. The story is raw and honest. I’m sad the book is over.

Language, phrasing, excellent description of dealing with grief.

I had a hard time getting into Intetmezzo but I kept seeing over & over again it’s one of the best books of 2024, so I stuck with it. And I’m happy I did. Loved the character, the main ones and secondary. Rooney has a very different way of dealing with romantic relationships. While reading it I found myself muttering to certain characters ‘stop, don’t put up with that’, knock it off, get a hold of yourself’.
Her words conveying the first couple of weeks, months of grief rang very true to me.: a lot of odd, thoughtless actions, over drinking, being ‘me, me, me’ but knowing no one can provide you the solace you seek.

Understanding, Forgiveness and Healing

This book delves deep into human emotions in a profound and poetic way. I’ve listened to sections over and over again. Her characters are so real and their lives though complicated can be related to. I would love for there to be a part II.

Draws So Many Emotions and Deeper Thoughts

Amazing book. Beautiful prose. Interesting and relatable human experiences. I became attached to the characters via many feelings and empathic and sympathetic strings. I am impressed and will read other Sally Rooney works.

Absolutely Spellbound …

I was transported by the narrator and the story both. Loved these perfectly imperfect people that Sally Rooney created as characters. A beautiful Irish tale of brothers, life, grief and love. Thank you both, Sally and Eanna ❤️

Beautifully woven timeline

I’m in love with the way Peter is narrated. I also love this complex story about siblings in a short time frame, weaving in the density of a history together.

Emotional and raw

Great narration. An incredibly moving story that will leave you both heart broken and full of love. Would highly recommend.
