THE STORY

Captain Kor'sarro Khan of the White Scars is petitioned by his Chapter Master to hunt down and destroy the daemon prince Voldorius, a warleader of the renegade Alpha Legion, thus ending his reign of terror across the stars. Hunting the beast doggedly for over a decade, Kor'sarro finally brings Voldorius to battle on Quintus, a world that has totally given itself over to the Alpha Legion. Together with their Raven Guard allies, the White Scars must fight an entire planet if they are to slay the daemon prince.

Honored Be His Name!

Shogo Miyakita really has come into his own in this book, I wasn't sure about him replacing Johnathan Keeble in the Scars book, but he was excellent here. Absolutely a must-read for White Scars fans, a great tale and one that I'll be revisiting in the future.

I love the White Scars, but it's only alright

I'm a White Scar fan, looking to get through every White Scar story, and let me tell you, it is a journey of highs and lows. Ultimately, this story is the mid mark of that adventure. It's not "boring" necessarily, but it's neither exciting, clever, nor unpredictable at any point. It has it's moments, but ultimately this is a book for people who really like these characters, and probably nobody else.

I think if I was a casual listener, I'd have been irritated with how mundane this book was. It feels like action figures being bashed together, maybe some explosions drawn with crayons with some vroom vroom, pew pew noises. And hey, if anyone chapter is going to do bolter porn and have it be exciting to hear about, the White Scars and Raven Guard are at least a fresh take on how Space Marines fight, but unless you've tolerated a mind numbing amount of these stories (which god forgive me, I have), you're going to find Hunt for Voldorius an insultingly bland read.

Mid for a 40k novel, bad by any other measure of novel. Buy only if you're a mega fan like me.

Excellent Narration Enjoyable Story

Give Shogo more work!

Raven Guard and Scars were portrayed very well. Shrike and Kor'Sarro are badass bros. I'm not sure how the Scout Sergeant was able to move so well with his massive set of stones. He definitely needed a water heater for the toilet when he used it so his unit didn't get cold.

Also, give Shogo more work!

I like it a lot.

I'm a big White Scars fan so I'm admittedly biased, but I think this is one of the best Space Marine Battle stories. I love the team up of the White Scars and the Raven Guard and I think Voldorius was a properly built up villain with a suitably satisfying climax. I eagerly await the next one.

TTS didn’t lie

Overall, this is a good story which focuses on one of the more overlooked chapters with another overlooked chapter getting time in too. It’s nothing Earth shattering or something that shines a great light on a lot of the chapters’ cultures but is overall an entertaining tale.

Also, TTS didn’t lie. Voldorius does nothing, almost gets killed by an unorganized rebels, and is overall overshadowed by the Bloodtide and Nullius.

not good not bad. just meh

I always say Warhammer books fall into three categories: books that should have been novellas but are stuffed with boring pointless details, word count books that drag on and then suddenly end too quickly, and the good ones.

this book falls into its own unique category. just meh. it's neither too long or full of pointless details. the climax doesn't end abruptly because honestly the climax is very anticlimactic.

perhaps if you are a fan of the white scars or the raven guard this will be a more interesting read but as far as this series goes there are much better entries. save the credit and get one of those.

Performance was great. Story was below average. If you want to enjoy a Alpha Legion, Raven Gaurd, or White Scars story I'd buy other books first. Buy this if you already have everything else.
