Resumen del Editor

What do you say to someone who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease? How can you help someone who knows they are dying or people who have just said good-bye for the last time to someone they love? You want to help, but how can you be sure you aren't doing more harm than good? What should you say about God, heaven, or prayer?

Author Patrick Shawn Riecke answers these questions after 20 years of helping the sick, dying, and grieving. You will encounter the best ways to talk with people in what he calls Phase Three - life's most difficult moments.

Riecke has not only helped countless people personally as a hospital chaplain and pastor, but also leads a team of chaplains doing this work daily and gives regular seminars helping others know how to talk with sick, dying, and grieving people.

With references along the way from Being Mortal, by Atul Gawande, Father Richard Rohr, recent research, ancient literature, personal anecdotes, and three customized case studies developed specifically for this volume, you will find a complete handling of this topic. However, you will not find a technical handbook - but rather a pause-resisting, easy-to-listen-to audiobook that sometimes feels more like a novel or memoir than nonfiction.

The rich and breathtaking stories will help you unfold your full potential to really help people in Phase Three.

Educational and inspiring

I loved this book. It not only helped me to understand my own grieving process but gave me greater insight on the does and don'ts when I am walking through death with others in my role as a pastor. I highly recommend this book to everyone that fills a clergy position.

deeply meaninginful growth oriented training

Author writes concerning his experiences and provides useful insights to support anyone who desires to be or have been involved in caring for those who are reaching lifes end.
Author does present as authoritative, thoughts and feelings, based on his experiences and this csn feel a but preachy but genuinely meaningful and aiming for giving us what he may have wanted to have when he faced his moments.

Outstanding and well handled.

Deeply touched my heart as a hospice chaplain and a mother who has lost a child. Thank you.

Really answered many questions about respecting my terminally ill brother's wishes. Very clear narrative. Recommend.

Best book ever!

I wasn't sure what to expect since this was the first book about death and grieving that I had ever read but it was wonderfully written. It is very helpful and gives some insight on what to do and what not to do. I don't think that I have read a better book. I highly recommend this book to anyone that deals with people dying, hurting, or in healthcare. Thanks Patrick Shawn Riecke for sharing your experiences with us.

There are 3 chapters in the physical book that are not read as part of the audiobook

Wish this was a full reading of the actual book especially because the chapters that were omitted were the most interesting
