A worthwhile read for a struggling adult needing somewhere to start

This is a great book to at least get the layout of the land in terms of what you will need to do to study better - whether you’ve been diagnosed or just suspect dyslexia. While many of the concepts are things you may have heard before as just general good study habits, this book outlines the techniques that are especially helpful for dyslexics. It was at least comforting to know that these are the techniques used by many in the dyslexic community. Having no knowledge of how to cope with it before, I appreciated the in depth explanations of how to utilize and implement the study tips, even if I already heard of them before. I highly recommend this book, especially for the time-length it is, for under two hours of your time, it is time well spent either learning some new study techniques or at least reinforcing ones you already use but didn’t realize are recommended for dyslexia.

Not a cure, a plan.

As an educator and mother, I thoroughly condone putting this book to practice. Unlike most books on disabilities, this author doesn’t claim to cure. Instead there is a test that helps determine what kind of learner you are and then he has a corresponding chapter to help you learn with the abilities you have. I think this is a great book for educators and parents of dyslexic children. He even write about Calcula the mathematical equivalent of dyslexia. I don’t think this author left anything out. This was a really informative book!r

Know yourself, chose your learning style

The focus of this book is to help with learning for people with Dyslexia; however, it also a very good study guide in general. It covers different study patterns one can follow/prefer and recommends how to best study with your preferred style.

Narrator has a very steady voice and easy to follow.

Really just summarizing readily accessible information. That said it is a good book for reference.

This is a generic study guide not a dyslexia focused

Honestly this feels like a cheap ploy to make money at the expense of people with a learning disability without understanding their needs. There is nothing in this guide about working with teachers and parents to improve your learning outcomes. There is nothing about advocating for better testing conditions. There is nothing about dealing with the psychology of late diagnosis and the impact on esteem. The references to dyslexia specific systems is minimal.
