Taming My Future Stupid Self

Our future selves are obstinate in repeating the same errors every single time. In this book, I will describe elements in ourselves that contribute to what I call the “stupidity factor” of our future selves. I will present tips and techniques that you can use for taming that incorrigible future self to be less…stupid. Because when you realize your future self is still you, you will most likely behave the same way your present self behaves in the future. That’s an advantage because the future self will never magically change or surprise you with new behaviors. That’s a fact!

Who doesn’t love a good story? It has been said that within each of us are endless tales to tell, and many of us are eager to let those stories out into the world. Whether the pen touches the paper or the fingers press the computer keys, there’s something vividly romantic about the act of writing stories. But how, exactly, does one start a fiction piece? Do you just sit there and type while the muses whisper sweet nothings in your ear? Author Lauren Bingham is here to provide tips on how to write fiction for folks who are timid, terrified, or somewhere in between.

Language learning is seen as something incredibly difficult, and most speakers of English are brought up with the idea that we English speakers just aren't good at learning languages. But what if this isn't the true story? What if you could easily learn a new language and have fun doing it? In this book, I pull back the curtain to reveal the mindset and methodology of a polyglot. This book will dispel the myths, lay the foundations of the correct mindset for success, and inspire you to commit to learning that language you've always wanted to master.

From an early age, it is drilled into our heads: Restlessness, distraction, and ignorance are the enemies of success. We’re told that learning is all self-discipline, that we must confine ourselves to designated study areas, turn off the music, and maintain a strict ritual if we want to ace that test, memorize that presentation, or nail that piano recital. But what if almost everything we were told about learning is wrong?

Analogy is the core of all thinking. This is the simple but unorthodox premise that Pulitzer Prize-winning author Douglas Hofstadter and French psychologist Emmanuel Sander defend in their new work. Hofstadter has been grappling with the mysteries of human thought for over 30 years. Now, with his trademark wit and special talent for making complex ideas vivid, he has partnered with Sander to put forth a highly novel perspective on cognition.

Resumen del Editor
As we become more and more reliant on electronics, we're losing the arts of absorption and recall. Why should we need them when we can just enter our shopping list into a handy app or Google pertinent information?
But what happens when our handy electronic friends decide to check out for a while?
Have you ever been caught with no batteries on your phone and a list full of shopping you can't remember?
There are other times when you just can't use your phone or tablet to retrieve information like when you are sitting for exams, or when you are invited to make a speech.

Historia
In 1999, Clark Elliott suffered a concussion when his car was rear-ended. Overnight his life changed from that of a rising professor with a research career in artificial intelligence to a humbled man struggling to get through a single day. At times he couldn't walk across a room, or even name his five children. Doctors told him he would never fully recover. After eight years, the cognitive demands of his job, and of being a single parent, finally became more than he could manage.

Words on the Move opens our eyes to the surprising backstories to the words and expressions we use every day. Did you know that silly once meant "blessed"? Or that ought was the original past tense of owe? Or that the suffix -ly in adverbs is actually a remnant of the word like? And have you ever wondered why some people from New Orleans sound as if they come from Brooklyn?

When it comes to creating ideas, we hold ourselves back. Thats because inside each of us is an internal editor whose job is to forever polish our thoughts, so we sound smart and in control, and so that we fit into society. But what happens when we encounter problems for which such conventional thinking fails us? How do we get unstuck? For Mark Levy, the answer is freewriting....

great knowledge
The techniques provided on improving one's memory (or rather one's ability to recall memories), were prolific, varied, simple, and well-presented. This material works perfectly as an audio book. If your interested in learning some fantastic new ways to remember numbers, lists, faces, story lines, speeches, names, and a few other subject matters that you've forgotten, then you just can't go wrong in adding this audio book to your library. It's worth the cost if you only learn half of the techniques presented.

Works if you use it.
This is a very comprehensive program, most memory improvement audios are very lacking in new or novel techniques or remembering information in a different way. They all reiterate the same techniques over and over. this author takes a whole new approach to learning and remembering, everything from facts and data to physical tasks and complicated processes. it provides a set of memory tools and techniques that are relatively simple, easy, and somewhat fun. I got the best results from listening to this.
