From the New York Times best-selling author of The Black Widow comes the thrilling new summer blockbuster featuring legendary spy, assassin and art restorer Gabriel Allon.

A heart-stopping tale of suspense, Daniel Silva's runaway best seller The Black Widow was one of 2016's biggest novels. Now, in House of Spies, Gabriel Allon is back and out for revenge - determined to hunt down the world's most dangerous terrorist, a shadowy ISIS mastermind known only as Saladin.

Four months after the deadliest attack on the American homeland since 9/11, terrorists leave a trail of carnage through London's glittering West End. The attack is a brilliant feat of planning and secrecy, but with one loose thread.

The thread leads Gabriel Allon and his team of operatives to the south of France and to the gilded doorstep of Jean-Luc Martel and Olivia Watson. A beautiful former British fashion model, Olivia pretends not to know that the true source of Martel's enormous wealth is drugs. And Martel, likewise, turns a blind eye to the fact he is doing business with a man whose objective is the very destruction of the West. Together, under Gabriel's skilled hand, they will become an unlikely pair of heroes in the global war on terror.

Written in seductive and elegant prose, the story moves swiftly from the glamour of Saint-Tropez to the grit of Casablanca and, finally, to an electrifying climax that will leave listeners breathless.

But House of Spies is more than just riveting entertainment; it is a dazzling tale of avarice and redemption set against the backdrop of the great conflict of our times. And it proves once again why Daniel Silva is "quite simply the best" (Kansas City Star).

What made the experience of listening to House of Spies the most enjoyable?

I know all the characters, the narrator is excellent, the plot is intriguing and the action realistic.

What other book might you compare House of Spies to and why?

The last few books in this series are all quite consistent.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He gets it right. Every character. Every time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Occasionally laughed but no tears.

The saga continues

Silva takes his time laying the foundation of this story and in the last third you are glad he did. His plot and sub plots make this a ‘perfect for Netflix’ type of binge series. The character development and interchange is excellent. His command of detail in describing the streets and locations makes you feel you are getting a guided tour. All this wouldn’t be a fraction of the experience if it wasn’t for George Guidall’s’ performance. His ability to make many accents and characters come to life makes it better than a movie. Best audio book actor there is. If you like this, you should check the Mitch Rapp series he does and the Dark Tower series he does. Brilliant.

Great book and fantastic Character narrations!

I’ve read many of his books before, but am now reading them in the order they were written. They are written to be read in any order, but am finding the history of Israel is making more sense, reading in order.

Great, as usual.

Loved it! The story was captivating. Love the hero and the team work. Silva gets better with every book.

Timely, suspenseful and frightening.

The scary thing about this book is how realistic it may be. Not so much the heroics but the possibility of the situation. As usual our hero prevails and everything works out. The performance is quite good.

Could be real

A great catcher!

Really interesting how Libya descended into chaos after the West removed Qaddafi. I looked up Morocco. Yes a long time major Hashish grower. The nexus between ISIS and similar groups with global crime is spot on.

As usual from Silva I learned
