Ruth Logon Herne at her finest! She captures each complex character and each equally complex situation with tremendous clarity that the reader can understand. Faith is the ingredient that eventually calms the storm. A true page-turner with fast-paced situations that transports the reader to the Double SS Ranch.
If you’ve been following each of the books you know that the brutish builder of the sprawling ranch is ill, awaiting a transplant. All three sons have come home to be with Sam and to work the ranch. Brother Nick is the middle son. He is a single parent of two daughters, ages six and
eight. Their baggage is great, mostly from his ex-wife and their mother having run off with another man three years before. In walks Elsa, a child psychologist with a big secret, a tragic crime that rock her world from which she silently suffers. The older daughter belligerence causes a scary accident and she’s failing school. A romantic interest begins,...just before the run-away mother re-enters throwing a wrench in everyone’s life.
