Resumen del Editor

During the blackout of 1944, in the small English town of Hurstwick, something mysterious obliterates the church spire and slices through the nearby woods. Was it a secret Nazi weapon, as some locals suggest? Or just a downed plane? Evacuee George Moss finds an otherworldly explanation, then tries to keep it hidden.

Years later, Max Cannon moves to town. With help from his new friends, Ellie and Isaac, he learns of the secret that some residents have guarded for over seven decades. When that secret is threatened with exposure, strange things occur, and the army descends on Hurstwick. As does a visitor from much further afield, leaving Max and his friends in the middle of a deadly struggle....

A small-town science fiction mystery of galactic scale

original & worth reading/ listening

No spoilers, really enjoyed the characters. Some reviews I read reviled a major part of the story - be careful. Narration was very well done.
Looking forward to other books by this wonderful author.

Excellent story for adult and teenager

This was a good book. Very much like a Heinlein. Captures your attention, makes you think of lots of scenarios and holds you to the very end. Jim in Montana, sci-fi buff even at 67.

spaceman decides to stay

interesting variation of the Alien decides to stay story. Goes through a few generations and is really a juvenile book. Even though it is a different country, kids are kids, trip and drop something important. Trying to sound cool and collected. For me, it was a page turner.

A book to immerse yourself in.

Because my son's nickname was Wren in HS (short for Warren) I picked this book.
It's such a creative and well written story and the characters are easy to imagine. I had not read the summery so I had no idea what it was about. I was not in anyway dissapointed.
The reader was perfect.

An enjoyable story

This is basically a finding yourself through helping others story. Quite enjoyable and it held my into. Purchased the second book and I hope it too becomes a narrated book. The performance was good. Sometimes the inflection between characters was limited but not enough to hamper the engagement with the story!

Satisfying, intriguing, and entertaining listen

During WWII a mysterious object fell from the sky in a small English town, completely destroying the church spire and damaging the surrounding woods. No one knew what that was, whether it was a Nazy bomb or something else. Only a little boy found out the truth and kept it for himself for many years.

This was a very satisfying, intriguing, and entertaining listen. It somehow reminded me of Stranger Things, as I could find many similitudes between these characters and the ones of the show. To start with, they are similar ages and are not the popular kids in town. They also experience strange phenomena, which seem to affect more one than the others. I enjoyed how the story spanned many years from 1944 to nowadays, and how the town and its people evolved in such time.

Although this book’s main target audience is teens, I think it can be read by anyone and everyone. I wish I had to read books like this for school, and it’s one I’d definitely recommend to teachers and young teens.

I rejoiced in the adventures of the three friends in their search for Wren. The intrigue was well built and there’s even a twist in the story that I didn’t see coming. Very well done: pleasant story, good rhythm, and likable characters.

I enjoyed Matt Addis’ narration. His characters’ interpretations were very expressive and he used a balming tone of voice that I could keep listening to for ages. The audio production was clean and had no issues.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Wonderful new approach to a visitor

This was a wonderful book. The characters were filled out and seemed real. I can picture them all in my mind. The action paces along quite satisfactory. The author took a totally different approach to the visitor and both his mission and how he resolved his issues. The jumps in time were perfect for the plot. Then ending was very satisfying and a welcome change from authors who want to write a series. Totally full-filling. Loved it. I have 400 plus books in my library. This on is in the top ten. Looking forward to his next one.
