good but...

I liked the first book of the series better with Mason and Lynette. Ive reread that one several times and just now reading the others. Oswald and Fenella were an OK couple. The stories had reoccurring characters and it was nice having the family dynamic. I dont care for the king and queen/court parts very much. I've got the third book downloaded and im going straight into it.

GREAT BOOK

This book was a great example of the adventures of a woman tricked into marriage & love affair & how the truth is necessary to maintain a healthy relationship. Narrator excellent!

Good story…loved Oswald and Fanella’s story

I love Alice’s book so much and this is one of my favorites. The narrator is perfect. The story intricate. And the characters flawless.

A love story at court

I liked the characters and it wasn’t too heavy in the historical details. Worth a listen if you like a period piece romance

Great series

After finishing the second installment in this series, I look forward to the last installment. I cannot wait to listen to Roland’s story.

Family Dynamics

This is tough, because Oswald was so often a jerk and a brute and because his wife is such a mouse, I must chalk it all up to the era it is set in. Few women had any rights and were often treated badly by their menfolk. Men were also raised by brutish fathers. Fenella is also such a gentle soul without a mean bone in her body. We can’t compare these women to ourselves and how we would react to such men. I liked this book and the prior book in the series. Watching the evolution of these brothers and their wives is a fun listen. I would prefer a different narrator.

A GEM! A hidden GEM !!

I don't know what corner of my heart these stories are finding long long lost strings to pull but the first book was not a one-off, this second book too has me skipping meals, staying up late laughing like a crazy person and weeping sometimes happily sometimes in a pining way and even sometimes, like now writing this, a get a lump in my throat ...why? I enjoy several books a month I am very well read as they say, but these are catching me off guard as I started them by a happy accident I hit the wrong button one late evening but was too tired to research another book and they (book 1-2 haven't gotten fatter yet ) grabbed me and wouldn't let go ! I could see every scene in my head but I could feel all the emotions of each character even the peripheral ...even the DOG! It makes me want to write a continuation at the end of each one... each ending is superb however i am greedy and I want MORE !! More about all of these characters all of them from the servants to the main family to the king and queen even ... I think I could write a show as I have the measure of everyone ...I don't know how the author is pulling these strings but she has me in tied knots ! The narration too is a marvel , the women are so feminine a way that is true to their character and the men too ...how does someone do that so well! The leading men are so damn sexy the and the others too have such charter in there voice and cadence that it feels like a fully casted dramatization ...these are so impressively well done I'm well truly in awe an unexpected treasure for sure! Thanks Audible !!

Stellar!

Coldbreath is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I read her books over and over, so finding that they are out on Audible AND very well narrated is making me very happy. Love this one. The hero is so undone by the heroine.

Alice doesn’t miss

Sometimes with longer books, it’s easy to get side tracked and miss things, but not with Alice’s writing. She has a way of thrusting her characters together, even when they are surrounded by others. There is a sweet intimacy between these two that had me deeply invested. From start to finish I 💯% would recommend.
