a great book for the car this summer on vacation for the whole family.. very adventurous.. and well read, rivals the h. potter listen series.. only now i have to wait for the next one

This book is very good, as is the second book "The Search for the Red Dragon".

Cute

Just a nice fun listen. Nothing too deep. Nice little twist with John at the end.

Something missing

I'm not sure if it is the authors style, the fact its the first in a series, or the narration, but something felt missing. About half way through i realized it was "Tension." The story does a good job of moving along, but I didn't find myself particularly invested in what was happening, or going to happen next. It was interesting to pick out nods to other literary works, but again there was that crucial aspect of keeping me hooked. I might circle back to this series at some point, but I may not.

a fun read

I don't know why some people didn't like this book. I thought it was enjoyable and not boring at all.

Magnificent

Returned to this after not having read this story in many years, but it captivated my imagination just as much as it did all those years ago.

Amazing Story!!!!

A good tale about adventure and magic. I would reccomend to anyone who likes mythology as well as a little mixture of fairytales.

Listened to this book to see if it was age appropriate for a young teen, and it was! Very unique story and plot line.
