good book, funny pronunciation

I love the book. the narrator just pronounces things funny. like Voldemort with no t.

frustrating performance

if you've watched the movies or listened to other audio versions then this reader's whining voice will annoy you to no end. who knew Hermione could whine so much? Good male voices but female left a lot to be desired.

Why Jim Dale?

Okay, I LOVE Harry Potter story's. But you really had to pick Jim Dale didn't you? I don't mean to offend or anything, the story is great it is just… the voice. The girls voice are like "Haarryy" and boys like "Harrie". In my opinion, "Voldemor" as Jim Dale pernounces is a fine voice. If I mad Audible I'd make a Cursed Child and by Launa Quintal.

The books in this series will forever and always be favorites of young and old!

Almost perfect

I love Jim Dale's performances of these books with few exception. However,if Random House had spent a little effort, they could have been perfect. Editing and a few fixes. In this book, Dale uses his Cornelius Fudge voice at a crucial point when it should be Mad Eye Moody/Barty Crouch Junior's voice.In other books in the series, Dale uses a ridiculous French accent for Bellatrix Lestrange. Estranged is a common enough surname in Britain, and there is NO justification in any of the seven books to justify the irritating accent. Bellaire is not French. Her sisters are Narcissa Malfoy and Andromeda Tonks. Why would one of the three sisters be French while the other two are English, as are Dale's voices for them. Extremely irritating if the reader has any analytical still.

That being said, however, Dale is tremendous. For many dozens of hours of narration, the reader can tell who is speaking, just from the character's voice, with nearly perfect accuracy. Through all seven books. I blame the faults on the lack of editing skill of the production team. Of course, it is possible that I have listened to all seven of these books way too many times...

Great reading, but one or two things bring it down

What three words best describe Jim Dale’s performance?

Jim Dale does great with all voices EXCEPT for Hermione. I can't stand the inflection and whine in her voice, I just cannot see the character as whiny. HAr-eeee. ugh. Everytime I hear it I cringe.

Amazing Narrator!

This is my favorite book series and I read it every couple of years. This year I decided to try the audio version and I completely fell in love with the narrator, Jim Dale. He has found his calling, he is the best narrator I’ve come across. He seamlessly flows from one character to the next and expresses the emotions perfectly. It’s because of him I listened to the whole series. They really did pick the perfect person to bring this book to life.
