Resumen del Editor

This time it’s more personal than ever.

Nick O’Flannigan suspects that his time in the small town of Helena will be one of relaxation and reflection, even time to think about the future. A rare murder, a hanging in a park outside of town piques his interest, though. The only real clue is in a photograph he took on a short hike.

But he’s found a new friend, a stranger he feels oddly connected to. The more often they run into each other, the deeper their conversations go. But a nagging suspicion in the back of his mind tells Nick something isn’t right here.

The police finally have a real lead. Nick finds himself closer and more involved with the solution than he ever wanted to be. The twist will have you screaming as you listen.

A combination of coming of age and a harrowing thriller, you won’t want to miss the final justice of this murder mystery. Buy this book from the Capital City Murders series today!

Interesting story premise

I just finished the novella Hanging in Helena: Capital City Murders Book #6. The premise for the series is intriguing and I look forward to each new book.

The protagonist Nick O'Flannigan is a freelance photographer and an amateur detective. Nick has a contract to take photos of the capitol buildings in each of the 50 US capital cities over a period of 50 weeks for Travel USA magazine. While in Helena, MT, he inadvertently becomes involved with a murderer while trying to avoid public involvement in the current murder investigation.

Although I enjoyed the story very much, I found the plot to be even shorter than usual while time was repeatedly spent discussing Nick’s morning ablutions and his daily meals.

Baskerville Book Reviews

I’m noticing the writing is getting better. It’s less about feeling the need to insert a mystery into a story about a guy taking pictures of capital buildings. This time around, it focused a lot more on making Interesting Protagonist into an actually interesting person for a change.

In one area the writing is lacking though. It’s showing the author(s) age(s), as they refer to women as “gals”, dinner as “supper” and use the word tiff. I’ve only ever heard 1 other person use the word tiff and that was a decade ago. He referred to it as “1940s slang”, which I have no idea if that’s accurate, but seeing as how seldom used it is, it seems unlikely a young guy like Interesting would know it.

Overall, the narration was alright. The narrator still doesn’t know the difference between O and 0. There’s no such thing as “19O5”. In general, his voice can be lacking at times. Often when male characters were talking, it was difficult to tell who was speaking as they sounded the same. In other instances, the female characters were given the same voice, which didn’t help.

Another Mystery for Nick!

The sixth installment of The Capital City Murders takes us to Nick's visit to Helena, Montana. Nick is a freelance photographer and is on assignment to go around the country to each state capital and take photographs of the capital cities. An easy enough assignment, but the problem is he always seems to find drama wherever he goes - drama in the form of murders and crimes. He was hoping Helena would be different, but no such luck! Nick manages to come across clues that help the police solve the crime. The story was interesting and kept my interest throughout and the narrator did a nice job with all the characters. I also enjoy learning facts about Helena and some of its history. Looking forward to seeing the next great murder mystery Nick comes across. I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Another outstanding Capital City Murder

Hanging in Helena: Capital City Murders Book #6, my ninth read from author Troy Lambert. After reading Silenced in Salt Lake: Capital City Murders Book #11, my first read from author Troy Lambert, I wanted to read more in the series and this one doesn't disappoint. AS always, Joseph L. Stevenson's narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A Little shorter and less mysterious

As usual Nick finds trouble, this time on his way into town. From the beginning we know who did it and why but the police have no idea. A photo Nick took on a hike produces that one clue that everyone else overlooked. This book spent more time on Nick, his bike riding and his meals than others have but it was still enjoyable to follow Nick on this journey. I look forward to following him to more capital cities.

Another great adventure for Nick

Nick is able to enhance the pictures he takes at the capitals. This book had Nick trying a new mode of transportation and making new friends. Is he able to stay away from any mysteries? you will not be disappointed in listening to this series. I received a copy for an honest review.
