Resumen del Editor

The heat is on!

There's been a mysterious drowning in Phoenix, but nothing terribly unusual. Teens, a pool party with drugs, and alcohol. But Nick meets the aunt of the victim and is unwittingly drawn into the investigation. Because this is more than an accident. It's murder.

A sunburn becomes so much more.

A private investigator, a trip of his own, and an odd list of suspects draws Nick deeper into an investigation he is trying to avoid. But what he discovers will force him to take action, one way or the other. Will Nick get in the way of law enforcement, or will his eye for detail once again help solve the case? Find out in this compelling travel mystery today!

"Mysteries, the cops and the press."

Determined to avoid involvement in a strange death being reported on the local T.V. news when first Nick arrived in Phoenix, Nick's intention is thwarted when contacted by a P.I.asking for his help. Not quite as much eating in this instalment, the heat of the area taking it's toll.

Poisoned in Phoenix is the twelfth in the short snappy stories relating photographer Nick's travels around the country, spending a week in each capital city taking pictures on commission for a prospective travel book. Part murder mystery, part slow burn romance and part travelogue, each book is an enjoyable easy read stand alone. My thanks to the rights holder who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Story Origin. This is an enjoyable, quick and easy read episode of the ongoing series, Capital City Murders.

Baskerville Book Reviews

Maybe it’s a little too early to tell, but the lack of a second writer for this story is noticeable. It seemed like the story went on and on about details that barely felt relevant. The overall mystery was alright, but nothing special. It seemed to focus more on the behind-the-scenes drama than actually solving the mystery. Yet again, it feels awkward for a relatively young protagonist to be referring to women as “gals”, and saying “supper” instead of dinner. It reflects the author’s age more than the characters.

The narration was alright, as per usual. Though I got extremely sick of the narrator’s inability to tell O and zero apart. It should be obvious that phone numbers don’t use the letter O, seeing as they’re PHONE NUMBERS.

NOTE: This copy was provided to me free of charge as a digital review copy. The opinions stated in this review are mine and mine alone, I was not paid or requested to give this book a certain rating, suggestion, or approval.

Pool Parties Can Be Murder

This story is the most convoluted of the series yet. Nick O'Flannigan is drawn into a murder investigation in spite of his desire to just stay focused on his job of photographing the capitals. This unwilling participation creates upheavals in his life. I was entertained by this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this series to others. Joseph L Stevenson's narration is great as his delivery is superb. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Twelve and counting

Twelve books in and the story keeps following. Once again Nick tries to stay out of the mystery but is pulled in. The character keeps growing and is relatable to. With the mistakes he make like mistaking the power of the sun.
