Resumen del Editor

New York Times best-selling author Felix Francis returns with another nail-biting thriller in the Dick Francis tradition.

It is said that everyone over a certain age can remember distinctly what they were doing when they heard that President Kennedy had been assassinated, or that Princess Diana had been killed in a Paris car crash, but I, for one, could recall all too clearly where I was standing when a policeman told me that my wife had been murdered.

Bill Russell is acting as a volunteer steward at Warwick races when he confronts his worst nightmare - the violent death of his much-loved wife. But worse is to come when he is accused of killing her and hounded mercilessly by the media. His life begins to unravel completely as he loses his job and is in danger of losing his home as well. Even his best friends turn against him, believing him guilty of the heinous crime in spite of the lack of compelling evidence.

Bill sets out to clear his name but finds that proving one's innocence is not easy - one has to find the true culprit, and Bill believes he knows who it is. But can he prove it before he becomes another victim of the murderer. Guilty Not Guilty is a journey of greed and jealousy set against the grief of personal tragedy and loss, with many a twist and turn along the way.

Wow!

I absolutely loved Guilty Not Guilty! Martin Jarvis's brilliant narrative performance elevates this book, it's characters, and the emotions that run amok to an entirely new level!! The shocking conclusion is one that completely blind slighted me!
The son of the thrilling horse racing mystery writer, Dick Francis, Felix Francis has followed in his father's footsteps, then and co-writing four novels with him prior to his death, he has become a brilliant writer in his own right!

Great murder mystery

This is a murder mystery AND a family drama. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It provided some information as to the workings of the English system of laws (not to mention the difference between solicitors and barristers - which I had never understood previously). This novel continued the "trademark" of the Francis novels of providing an inside look at an area of English life and the background of the practices in an industry (in this case, the legal industry and the law).
.
All of that said, I did NOT enjoy this particular novel quite as much as I have enjoyed all of the others in the Dick Francis/Felix Francis novels. A four and a third stars rather than a solid five stars. Still head and shoulders above what most other authors do and well worth the investment.

Felix emerges on his own

I have read and reread the Dick Francis novels, first reading Blood Sport in paperback not long after its first appearance. Felix’s work
since Dick’s death has seemed derivative. But this novel Guilty Not
Guilty finally shows work of Felix Francis that feels original and
clever, with a narrative drive that persists through the whole book.
Congratulations, Mr. Francis.

Dick Frances is back!

Felix is now in the same class as his father and mother! I couldn't stop listening to this most satisfying mystery that was the equal to all his parents efforts. Bravo and hurry up with the next one!

Read the book and listened to it on tape

When I originally purchased the recorded book, I hadn’t realized I had already read the book, but I so enjoyed the book, I went ahead and listened to it as I did errands. This allowed me to enjoy it a second time. For people that enjoyed Dick Francis and Felix Francis’s prior novels, this too will be a treat.

Great sequel (of sorts)

Not actually a sequel but Dick Francis’ son turns out to be as good a writer as his Dad, who was always one of my favorites. Not as much race track detail but even more intriguing character development. Absolutely worth listening to.
