Less than two months into his ten years of active-duty service to the Hegemony of Velvet Stars as an adept, and Desmond McLaughlin has already gotten himself embroiled in even more trouble.

He's settled in just fine aboard his ship, the Fist of Defiance, and made plenty of friends. But it wouldn't be life if there weren't a few bad apples mixed in. Additionally, more information is coming to light about the strange group he and his instructor had fought with that had been occupying a Rift. A group that had no proper reason to be there beyond trouble, and were suspiciously short on identifying information on their persons. The rabbit-hole only grows deeper as Desmond continues to stumble upon clues, passing them along up the chain of command in hopes that someone will act before it is too late.

Things are picking up strength as Desmond and the girls start to get a view of what is at stake. Unwilling to simply allow himself to be swept along with the tide, Arsenal continues to prepare and train themselves, gathering strength for the challenges that stand ahead of them both as an adept and his guards, and as a clan.

Expect adventure, mischief, magic, fighting, and unconventional relationships in a galaxy that is curious what sort of mischief Humanity will get up to.

I love this series!!

Characters are amazing and the voice acting is superb, the story is also entertaining and engaging. 100/10 stars

How Audra joined the team, with a dark past but found a new life and family

The Only thing I wish this series had was a dedicated Medic and Sniper on the team. But another guardian that's basically a wall of beautiful fury between Desmond and the world Can't be denied.

And the former Pirate Princess snake girl Absolutely qualifies. Overall I'm still loving the series. Although from how things are going, I have a feeling by the time it's over Desmond will have to buy a house that's basically a fortress to fight off the army of Thirsty and Enamored women trying to become part of their Family Clan 😂😂. Even then I enjoyed the challenges they went through, the connections they forged even with gang members, and working with a clandestine agent who pushed their buttons but also gave them perspective. I'm also glad to see that Tara Windracer B__ch getting what had coming to her twice over 😏.

I almost gave her the benefit of the doubt 😩. Like maybe like the Vy-Elpha girl whats-her-name from the first 1 or 2 books who kept acting extra haughty and superior around Desmond, being in a position to change her prejudice. But like the MC I'm starting to think FAFO should be on a jacket or something. So when they see the letters, if the phrase got around, any challengers can double check if it's a good idea before the Find Out 😈😂.

If anything else, I'm also enjoying the contact and challenges of Earth aka Terra Sol 3 and renaming humans Terrans. Although I admit the name change is a bit odd along with renaming Humans to just Terrans and I was actually glad that came up 🤔. But then I was like; “Y'know “Space stuff” 🤷🏾‍♂️", so I didn't mind it as much 😄.

Getting reconnected with Monica the Dwerg girl was pretty cool too. Between this series, Gryff the Gryphon Rider, Accidental Goblin King and “Here there be Dorfs!” I like the alternative names and reimaginings for fantasy races as aliens. (That probably goes for Monster Girl Safari and Goblin Girl Apocalypse too in their own ways). And more so ones that generally get along with each other at that, in the Hegemony.

I eagerly await the next book as well as the final one. Part of me is nettled and wants to restart it because I still don't know if Desmond ever found his “Twist” when it came to using Mana spells. And if not, I look forward to it 🤔🤷🏾‍♂️😄.

Sa usual the story and narration are tope notch. The characters are excellent and actually grow in a believable manner the affection between the members of the core group is believable and fun. the only issue i have is how the author has the Earth governing body taking the idiot stick and beating comon senses out of each other with it. Course by this point I'm used to it and just role my eyes and mentally skip past that and the occasional winning by the MC about "Oh my government threw me to the wolves and abandoned me." Ya and you landed on your feet, rn of into the cosmos, and became a space wizard with a harem, get over it and maybe try to help your fellow humans rather than just bitching. other than that excellent story.

exilent world building, great character building, intreging story telling , all around great book

Getting to see how the story like is progressing with the plot of who is messing with the rifts.

There was some minor things but nothing i can really say stick out. overall it was good

Blushing still?

I think the only major thing that really bothered me is the fact that after the girls that are with the MC after such a long period of time are still blushing over small things the MC does for them. Even in anime stories female characters don’t blush as much over a period of time, yet every little thing the MC does his lovers become blushing maidens like the first time they met. This has gone from cute to I think I just threw up in my mouth. Other than that the story overall is really good and I enjoy it.
