Acerca de esta escucha
Have you ever arm-wrestled for chocolates, gamed with the tit-for-tat robot, or booked a session with a negotiation stylist? No? Ever tried to get a toddler to eat broccoli, been in a conversation where someone repeats themselves over and over, or tried to reason with a person who insists their opinion is indisputable fact? Yes? This book is for you.
With plucky prose and arresting content, it offers handy everyday super tips...and Girl Scout cookies.
Negotiation happens everywhere every day, and it can be anyone’s everyday superpower. Yet, negotiation is still viewed by the general public as a specialized skill mastered by experts, and one that you either have or you don’t. Women, in particular, still shy away from negotiation–many are uncomfortable just asking for something, prioritizing politeness over opportunity.
Well, guess what? Negotiation isn’t just for business, it's everybody's business. This is everyday negotiation prowess from a woman who lives it every day. It vanquishes the myth that negotiation is some rarified skill for special settings by elite executives or gifted individuals. It’s a tasty just-so recipe of expertise and Brene Brown-worthy vulnerability. Lucia shows how to layer the cake with equal parts skills building, storytelling, social and historical commentary, and thought experiment.
The frosting is how it also flexes intellect, imbuing the listener with that same prowess.

Real estate isn’t just about beautiful houses and nice people. It’s a serious business that deals with the most valuable asset most of us will ever own. Unfortunately, the bulk of most people’s knowledge of real estate is comprised of what they watch on House Hunters—which is more like a fairy tale than a professional transaction. As Is: An Insider's Guide to Real Estate was written to bring a dose of actual reality to the real estate business.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

The American health-care system is failing us. It is a frustratingly complex, opaque, and unaffordable system that results in suboptimal care and a deterioration of the welfare of the majority of American families. The experience of the past few decades and the recent ravaging pandemic has shown us that doing more of the same is not going to deliver us from this dilemma. But there is hope. There is a way to create a more accessible, consumer-friendly, safer, and affordable system of care for all of us.

For years now, win-win has been the paradigm for business negotiation. But today, win-win is just the seductive mantra used by the toughest negotiators to get the other side to compromise unnecessarily, early, and often. Win-win negotiations play to your emotions and take advantage of your instinct and desire to make the deal. Start with No introduces a system of decision-based negotiation that teaches you how to understand and control these emotions.

The secret to finding out anything you want to know is amazingly simple: Ask good questions. Most people trip through life asking bad questions - of teachers, friends, coworkers, clients, prospects, experts, and suspects. Even people trained in questioning, such as journalists and lawyers, commonly ask questions that get partial or misleading answers. People in any profession will immediately benefit by developing the skill and art of good questioning.

Move this to the top of your "to-read" list today!
I'm a (relatively) new attorney that always wanted to take a negotiation class in law school, but never had a chance as those classes were very popular and filled up fast. Well now I feel like I have after listening to "For the Forces of Good". But you don't have to be an attorney to benefit from this book, in my opinion. Literally anyone could benefit from at least one of Lucia's "everyday super tips" not to mention that the real life examples Lucia pulls from her own life are incredibly captivating stories that I thoroughly enjoyed. This was my very first Audible listen and I could not be happier with my choice of book!!

FUN, FRESH, LONG OVERDUE VOICE
I could listen to the author / narrator recite the phone book! She’s got GAME!! Really connects with the listener with her warmth, friendly and deep expertise, and passion. Love the Everyday Super Tips throughout the book. It was just captivating - incredibly rich with content in a short amount of time, and it really builds as it goes along. I learned so much and experienced a full range of emotions from the perspectives, examples (Girl Scout cookies, anyone?), and stories. I finished in one sitting. I had already purchased the hard copy (which I devoured in a day) and reference it regularly (I recently used "Super Stealth Question #2 and it really did work like magic. OMG!).
It was a real treat to hear the author’s voice, having already feasted my eyes on the hard copy, like she was talking directly to me. Highly recommend purchasing hard copy AND listening on audio because it’s a very visually pleasing physical book with original art, charts and the super tips. Seriously, this is the best, most creative, most accessible and interesting negotiation book on the market - and SO refreshing to hear it all from a WOMAN expert! Ever noticed most negotiation books are written by men??
Notably, at the author has no ulterior motive; she’s not trying to “sell” us anything (like to hire her as a coach or purchase an expensive workshop) beyond the book like other negotiation books do. She simply asks us to go out there an practice so that we don’t need her. Brava!
