continues to amaze me with every book!

an exceptional story as always. At this point I feel like this story is simply a part of my life. As I near the complete end I'm beginning to feel a bit of sorrow. such a fantastic journey it's been!

Terrible Naration

Would you listen to Fool's Quest again? Why?

I would. As expected Hobb is a great writer, and I am really enjoying seeing all the characters of the world coming together.

What didn’t you like about Elliot Hill’s performance?

The voices, and accents he uses are contradicted in the book itself. Hobb describes the queen and her son as having stuck to the queens roots and therefore not having an aristocratic overbearing accent or thee airs of other nobility, yet the narrator reads both like satire of english dandies. I also don't think he does well with Fitz darker side, he tends to come off a little whiny. He has also given the fool a very odd accent which doesn't fit his description.

loved the book and cannot wait til the 3rd in the series comes out. the narrator did well most of the time but a few voices were very odd.

Wonderful

I admit I was a bit disappointed with Fool's Assassin because it was a whole book of setup. But this book enthralled me from beginning to end. The narrator did a great job with the exception of Reyn Khupris. I've listened to the entire realm of the Elderlings series on audible and have been familiar with Reyn since Liveship Traders. Never has his voice been so annoying. The rest, though, awesome.

Another Fabulous Fitz Story

I have listened to every book in the Fitz dynasty as well as the side novels in between the trilogies. The story always manages to capture me. There were a few times Fitz got on my nerves but I guess that's character development. He really is slow sometimes. The book does present adventure even though not much happens. I am excited to hear the conclusion as this book left off with a cliffhanger (of course).

Narration was okay. I'm being kind with 3 stars. I was not a fan of the Fool's voice at all. I liked Fitz and Perseverance's voice but that's about it. Kettrickrn sounded stuck up (the opposite of her). Reyn was just bad. I kept waiting for him to say "Did I do thaaaaaat?" since he might as well have been Steve Urkel. He also made Rapskal sound evil, so different from the character in the Rain Wild Chronicles. Most voices were slightly disappointing. I didn't mind Elliot Hill in the last book, but maybe that was due to very few characters in that book. But this read was a bit aggravating. It seems most likely he'll do the 3rd book so I hope he'll reevaluate his direction with some characters.

Regardless of the narration. I highly recommend this book.

Fantastic Story, Poor Narration

I absolutely adored the series and this book is just another welcomed addition, however I can't stand the way the narrator voices certain characters.

Fitz Vigilant sounded like he had his mouth wired shut the entire time and took unnecessarily long pauses throughout almost every sentence he spoke and Rain sounded like an adolescent child.

Again it was a fantastic story, just poorly narrated.

Audiobook would be better with different narrator

Many reviewers before me have mentioned how distracting the narration is and I have to agree. The Fool, Kettricken, Lant, and Rain in particular are extremely bothersome to listen to with Elliot Hill's rendition. I've listened to all the other Robin Hobb books and I've had small issues with the narration, but this one has colored my view of the story as a whole. I feel like the way Elliot narrates these characters unfairly biases the listeners' response to their characters. The fool has never had an accent in any of the previous books, much less some kind of eastern european accent. Kettricken did not sound so overly noble especially when she still sees herself as sacrifice. Lant always sounds like he is gritting his teeth in anger when he speaks. And Rain sounds like he is a snake rather than an elderling who is a general who saved the livelihood of dragons. Overall I will continue the series to finish a beloved story, but I am unhappy with how this narration is affecting my view of these characters.

I wish fools voice didn’t sound like an old men.. and other young characters didn’t sound young : /

Elliot Hills👎stop changing voices completely

I love the book, but I do not like how Elliot Hill changes all the voices. Especially the elderlings, specifically Rains.

Great story, bad voice for narration

Such a great story! So many character meet ups! My only real critique is the narration. A lot of the male characters just sound very mousy and so different from prior books
