Xavier Parker gets what he wants.

Richer than God. Hotter than fire. Colder than ice. Father of my child. And he has no idea.

As London's top restauranteur, he has the golden touch but rules his world with an iron fist. Now he's back in New York with two objectives: Open the newest hotspot in the city, and win back my heart five years after he broke it.

I'd run in the opposite direction, but it's been so long...And Xavier knows my recipe. Passion. Pleasure. Just the right kind of pain.

Imagine his surprise when a little girl opens my door instead of me. A stubborn, button-nosed four-year-old whose shiny black hair and bright blue eyes look just like his.

There's a secret in this house, and he won't stop until he figures it out. Because Xavier Parker gets what he wants. And now that includes his daughter.

First Comes Love is the exciting first book in a secret baby romance series from Nicole French! Enjoy an HFN at the end of this book, with more to come of these delicious characters.

Story was captivating and I’m so happy there’s a part two! Only negative I can say is some of the story can drag a bit and the main female character can be a bit whiny

There is only so much I can take from this girl. She claims to be grown up a mom yet she makes the most selfish decisions with no one in mind but her. She hides behind Sophia at every opportunity and it’s gross.

Frankie is EXHAUSTING

This is a ok book but not thrilling enough. It was long with no substance of an ending.

Maybe

Couldn’t finish it. The story was intriguing but the odd accent the female narrator used was way off. I’d imagine the MMC Zavier would have a posh souther English accent but the strange cockney/northern mix threw me.

The advent needs work

The book had me intrigued, loved the romance! And the voice of Sophia!!! Amazing dialogue and just enough to keep you wanting more

Love it

Female lead is selfish and immature. I hate when women make a father’s relationship with their children conditional to if he did or didn’t want to be with her.

Female lead is very unlikable.

I had to skip through a lot of the chapters because there was too much inner thoughts. The double standards are always a pet peeve for me. Oh and this may be my own personal feelings but why the heck do women with secret babies always sleep with the man again before telling him he has a kid but afterwards say they don’t want to tell them because they don’t know if they will be a good father? WHY THE HECK DID YOU JUST SLEEP WITH HIM AGAIN IF THATS HOW YOU FEEL? Anyway this was like any other secret baby story somehow the woman always justifies not telling the man. What does what happened between you and the father have to do with your child knowing who their father is? Sounds a bit selfish to me. Same ol’ same ol’. And truth be told the men are no better after being betrayed like that they still want to be with the woman.

Too drawn out 😬!

this is a decent book & I'm sure others would enjoy it. I however just prefer a faster pace.
honestly , I found the FMC to be quite annoying & it just felt as if nothing was happening. I DNFed the book around chapter 19 when I realized it wasn't a standalone.

if you're into slow paced , you'll probably like it.

Xavier is a sociopathic. I don't mean this facetiously. Look up the definition; he fits it to a T. The description makes it seem like his character might be an a**hole, but jeezus, he's worse. He doesn't have any redeeming qualities. He's not a grumpy-sunshine or cinnamon roll character, he's straight-upa sociopath. It's not even a bully romance (which some people like, I do not). He's a bonafied spoiled brat a**hole. He was pissed at Frankie for not letting him know she was pregnant. But the a**hole told Frankie a different last name, broke things off because he had a fiance and blocked her number. Frankie tried finding him, but couldn't because he didn't give her his real last name (and he blocked her number). We find out that he still had Frankie's phone number all these years. He's a spoiled brat and very unlikeable.

Xavier to Frankie: "I want to see her. I'd like to meet her. Properly this time. I think we can both agree you at least owe me that." WTF Xavier, you ghosted Frankie, then unexpectedly show up 5 years later thinking SHE owes YOU. No, sir she doesn't. She doesn't owe you s**t. Kudos to Frankie for telling Xavier no, not right now, emphasize she's selective with who she exposes Sophia too and that she needs to get to know him better first. To which he responds with, "You'll be hearing from my lawyer." One night, while drunk with his BFF, Xavier says he's going to sue for a paternity test and voes to spin the earth proving Frankie is a poor parent. WTF dude! You LITERALLY GAVE HER A FALSE LAST NAME. SHE COULD NOT FIND YOU. Ugh, this guy is insufferable.

Xavier becomes a jealous beast anytime Frankie talks to another man. RED FLAG ALERT. You guys aren't together, dude!!!! Chill the eff out.

The author continuously describes Xavier as long. Not tall, but long. Long fingers, long legs, long torso, long nose. I started to visualize him as a massive stick figure with long fingers. In chapter 11 we finally find out that he's 6'5".

The writing style is odd. There's a line of dialog, then paragraphs of internal dialog before one more line of dialog, then a bunch of internal dialog again. I found this distracting.

Apparently, this is three part story, which I didn't know going into it. I will not be reading/listening to the additional books. I listened to the audiobook because it popped up a free book and sounded interesting. I like listening to audiobooks while I'm working.

As for the audiobook narrators: I thoroughly enjoyed the female narrator. She has a pleasant voice and reads smoothly. I didn't care for the male narrator's British accent. You can tell it's voice acting and not native (I looked him up and his native tongue is American English). He was extremely difficult to understand. The female narrator has a better male British accent than the male narrator.
