I love a happy ending

Lucy wasn’t my favorite character but loved her happy ending. The kidnapping storyline was exciting. Great listen. I hope they continue the Hartsridge books on Audio.

LOVED THE STORY, BUT…

As always, I enjoyed Kay Bratt’s ongoing story of Taylor Gray and her family. I also enjoyed the secondary theme in the book — Lucy’s journey back to her family and HERSELF.

However, as in all the other books in this series, the narrator, Mare Trevathan, RUINS the book for me. The woman does not know how to make a simple statement. Ninety-five percent of what SHOULD be statements, she turns into questions. Her voice goes up at the end of almost every statement, turning them into questions. Her voice even goes up in pitch in the MIDDLE of sentences. It makes listening just weird. Ms. Trevathan’s speech modulation drives me batty, so much so that it takes away from the content for me, turning it into a case of not “what she says, but HOW she says it.”

If you don’t think this will bother you, the story itself is worth the credit. I loved the end written for Lucy, although I’m straddling the fence on the ending written for Taylor and her husband Sam in this book as they start a new chapter in their married life.

Being on the police force and wearing the uniform has always been such a big part of who Taylor IS, my mind is fighting the idea that she is taking her life in a new direction.

I guess whether the change is a success (in my mind), depends on what Ms. Bratt does with the next story. I just wish Ms. Bratt would use January LaVoy as the next narrator (ANYONE other than the current narrator).🫤
