Acerca de esta escucha
Emotions As Tools: A Self-Help Guide to Controlling Your Life Not Your Feelings is an easy-to-understand guide that helps you learn what feelings are, why you have them, how to identify them, and what they can do for you in your relationships and in your life. Anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, guilt, and shame are discussed.
You don't control your computer, cell phone, or the gauges in your car. They are tools that you learn how to use. When you learn how to use these tools, they work for you and you get the most out of them. Your feelings are tools that you also don't need to control, but that you do need to learn how to use. Unfortunately, most men and women lack the training they need to get the most out of their emotions. This guide addresses that need. Emotions As Tools is for you if you have ever wanted your feelings to disappear, you believed that your feelings controlled you, or you didn't know how to express your feelings appropriately at home, socially, or at work. Emotions As Tools is also for you if you want to learn how to read people better by understanding what their feelings communicate about them, or if you know or work with someone whose feelings seem to control them, or you want to learn to control your own life by using your emotions as tools.

Overcoming Borderline Personality Disorder is a compassionate and informative guide to understanding this profoundly unsettling - and widely misunderstood - mental illness, believed to affect approximately six percent of the general population. Rather than viewing people with BPD as manipulative opponents in a bitter struggle, or pitying them as emotional invalids, Valerie Porr cites cutting-edge science to show that BPD is a true neurobiological disorder and not, as many come to believe, a character flaw or the result of bad parenting.

Well worth the read and delivers on the title.
If you could sum up Emotions as Tools in three words, what would they be?
Insightful, informative and helpful.
What about Kevin Young’s performance did you like?
His style was pleasant and easy to listen to.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes or it can also be more deeply absorbed in multiple reading sessions.
Any additional comments?
Emotions as Tools is a great read on emotions and how one can better manage them. It explains how to evaluate your emotions and assess the true emotion at play and offers new tools and techniques to help the reader better respond to emotions. These tools are applicable both to the reader and to those the reader communicates with on a daily basis. An easy to use model of evaluation, identification and response is offered that will bring the reader much more control over the impact emotions have on their everyday life. There is also a wonderfully in depth discussion on perceived threat vs real threat, anxiety vs fear and sadness vs depression.
The narrator does a great job reading the text and was easy to listen to. I often like to listen to audiobooks read by the author as I feel it adds to the content, but nothing is lost in this book by having it narrated by someone else.
