Acerca de esta escucha

Why do so many women drink and eat to excess and then spend their days regretting it? An expert on women and depression explains what can be done to treat and prevent it.

Depression is a common and debilitating problem among women, though it rarely occurs in a vacuum. As Susan Nolen-Hoeksema's original research shows, overthinking, a tendency to ruminate on problems rather than seek solutions, often co-exists with unhealthy eating habits and/or heavy drinking. In fact, 80 percent of women who report suffering from one of those also suffer from another. This groundbreaking audiobook explains how these three core problems reinforce one another, wreaking havoc on women's emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, and careers.

Susan Nolen-Hoeksema shows women how to harness their emotional and interpersonal strengths to overcome the stress caused by a destructive relationship with food, alcohol, and overthinking so that they can fashion effective, healthier strategies for living the life they deserve.

This was just okay for me. Nothing too excited or revolutionary. Also, nothing real practical that I haven't heard before.

Eh, Meh

The author seemed judgmental, repetitive, and came off as snarky. The author concentrated too much on faults and issues than she does with helpful tips, which finally came towards the end of the book. The techniques may be good but I just couldn’t concentrate with her voice. I really wanted to enjoy it and find some help. But I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Not really helpful

I found the content to be negative and depressing. As a healthcare provider in women’s health I found this information laughable at times. It painted women as meek, without confidence, and full of loathing. I had to turn it off

Not uplifting

This book phrases a lot of assumptions as fact and doesn’t necessarily do a great job connecting all 3. This book would have been more enjoyable with a different narrator.

This book is not what I expected or what I needed. I'm sure it would be helpful to someone ... just no one I know.

Not what I needed.

The information was delivered in a dry manner. It felt more like a lecture. I’m not the target audience. Obviously.

Yawn

This book was helpful for me to be a stronger person and to not resort to eating, drinking and overthinking when things got tough in my life. I highly recommend the book.

Overcame the toxic triangle

What’s truly ironic – is that the authors voice, although she is speaking in terms of advocating for women – sounds like June damn Cleaver. The worst pretentious breathy BS voice I’ve ever heard in my life and I never want to hear it ever again. Stupid book. Complete waste of time if you’re even remotely literate or educated.

Zero new information and the worst damn near rating voice I’ve ever heard

Struggled to finish it. If I hear "toxic triangle" one more time I'm gonna hurl.

The overall tome suggests women are weak.

This book was all common knowledge, not at all helpful. Couldn’t even finish as it was so dull and getting the the resolve wasn’t appearing to happen.
